Overview
This bulletin tells how to replace the CC16 Coin Mech with the IDX Coin Xeptor. It shows how to:
-Remove the CC16 coin Comparator
-Replace the coin-in guide (slant games)or alignment plate in 550s
-Install the IDX Xeptor
-Perform a RAM clear (one per denomination)
-Program the IDX Xeptor
Procedure for the IDX
Xeptor Installation into
550 Slant-Top Games:
Remove the CC-16 Coin Comparator
1.
Unlock and open the display hatch.
3.
Disconnect the wiring harness from the
side of the CC-16 coin comparator.
4.
Lift up the Coin Comparator until the lower
pins are clear, then pull out the bottom and
slide the top down to free the mechanism.

360 cont. Coin-in guide replacement, & Xeptor install
For 360/3601 replace the front Coin-In Guide
1.
Remove the four screws that hold the coin in
guide to the assembly bracket (Image 3).
2.
Remove the three screws that secure the
two-part coin guide. (image 4.)
3.
Replace the front half of the guide with the
chosen denomination IDX guide. (Image 11)
4.
Resecure with the three pan-head screws.
5.
Reattach the guide to the bracket with the
four screws removed in step 1.

Place the IDX Xeptor into the bracket

The IDX Coin Comparator has a sliding
plastic cover, which needs to be temporarily
removed to access the harness connector
socket. (Image 5)
7.
Slide the top of the IDX unit up into the coinin assembly’s hanging bracket. Move the
bottom inward and drop into place.
8.
Insert the coin validator harness into the IDX
personality plug (Image 9. A).

360 conclusion, 550 CC-16 removal
Software and programming
An IDX-specific RAM clear needs to be used for
the comparator to become functional.
1.
Follow the RAM clear chip procedure found
on page 5 of this document.
2.
Follow the procedures for teaching the IDX
to accept and reject new coins and tokens,
described on page 6 and 7 of this document.
Wrap up
1.
Pull out the IDX Xeptor and reinstall the
cover.
2.
Put back into the game.
3.
Close and lock the game.

Procedure for the IDX Xeptor
Installation into 55X Games:
Remove the CC-16 Coin Comparator
1.
Unlock and open the main door.
2.
Disconnect the wiring harness from the
side of the CC-16 coin comparator.

3.
Lift up the Coin Comparator until the lower
pins are clear, then pull out the bottom and
slide the top down to free the mechanism.

550 cont. Coin alignment plate-conclusion
Replace the Top Coin Entry Alignment Plate.
1.
Remove the two screws and 2 nuts that
secure the Top Coin Entry Alignment Plate
(Image 8. A) to the door and to the coin-in
guide. The alignment plate and the Coin
Comparator Mounting Bracket (Image 8. B)
will drop out.
2.
Replace the old Alignment plate with the
550 IDX version (P/N 01-002738-17), and
secure both with the same screws and nuts.

The IDX Coin Comparator has a sliding

RAM Clear Chip Procedure
Install the Game Chip
Remove the CPU Board
1.
Unlock and open the Main Door.
2.
Turn power off at the PDU switch.
3.
Slant Tops Only: Disengage the coin chute.
4.
Remove the video cable from the CPU
Board Video Port.
5.
Unlock and open the card cage.
6.
Disengage the CPU Board by pulling its
white board ejector tabs toward you.
Remove the board.
7.
Remove Game EPROM XU3 from its socket.
Install and Use the RAM Clear Chip
8.
9.
Install the RAM Clear Chip in EPROM
socket XU3.
Return the CPU Board to the card cage.
Engage the board by pushing its white
board ejector tabs toward the cage.
10. Reconnect the video cable.
Ram Clear Procedure
16. Reinsert the Game EPROM in socket XU3.
17. Return the CPU Board to the card cage.
Engage the board by pushing its white
board ejector tabs toward the cage.
18. Close and lock the card cage.
19. Reconnect the video cable to the CPU
Board’s Video Port.
20. Slant Tops Only: Reengage the coin chute.
21. Turn GD power ON. The message "CLEAR"
should appear on the monitor. This message indicates proper clearing of the RAM.
22. Lock the card cage.
Reinitialize the System
23 Push DIAGNOSTIC. The machine reboots.
If you cleared the machine properly, the
machine
displays
"TILT: MEMORY
CLEARED."
Push
DIAGNOSTIC to
acknowledge this message.
24. Close and lock the Main Door.
11. Turn GD power ON. Verify that the proper
denomination appears on the monitor.
"1" indicates Pin One
12. Turn GD power OFF.

14. Disengage the CPU Board by pulling its
white board ejector tabs toward you.

PROCEDURE FOR LEARNING A COIN OR
TOKEN
IDX Channel Potentiometer Positions
Position Number ..................Position Function
Note: channel pot is channel potentiometer
1.
Install the acceptor in the machine and
power on. The L.E.D. should be green.
2.
To clear a channel, set the channel pot to
the desired channel to clear (channels 1 to
6). Next, press the red button once and
return the channel pot to position zero. The
L.E.D. will turn green.
3.
Turn the channel position pot to the channel
that was just cleared and press the red button once on channels 2-6 for wanted coins
and press the red button thirteen times on
channel 1 for unwanted coins. The L.E.D.
is now red.
4.
Whether programming the unwanted or
wanted channels use six different coins of
the same denomination and drop them one
at a time through the acceptor.
5.
Turn the pot back to position zero (L.E.D.
will be green) and replace the top cover.
6.
The coin acceptor is now programmed.

PROCEDURE FOR TESTING EEPROM
1.
Change the channel pot to channel position

The Multi-color L.E.D. should be green, if
the L.E.D. is flashing red/green the EEPROM is bad.

Perform the same test as done for position B.
This test checks the center eyes.
Change the channel pot to channel position
nine.
5.
Change the channel pot to channel position D.
2.
Fold a white piece of paper to a four thickness.

Insert the piece of paper into the slot.
Remove the white paper upon removing the
white paper, the L.E.D. should turn green.
This tests the upper eyes.
4.
Press the red button, the multi-colored
L.E.D. should flash red and green then turn
a bright orange when calibration is complete.

PROCEDURE FOR METAL TEST
1.
Adjust the channel pot to channel position E.

Change the channel pot to channel position
A.
2.
With no coin in the unit, the multi-colored
L.E.D. should be green.
6.
Repeat the same test as the channel position
nine test.
3.
Place a coin or token in the unit inserted
approximately half way into the coin slot.
The multi-colored L.E.D. should turn
orange, signifying test okay.
PROCEDURE FOR COIN DIAMETER TEST
1.
Change the channel pot to channel position B.
4.
Change the channel pot to channel position F.
2.
Install the folded white paper in the coin slot
and pull the paper up until the multi-color
L.E.D. turns green. This test checks the
lower eyes.
5.
Perform the same test as in channel
position E. In performing the test in channel
position F, the L.E.D. should turn flash
red/green twice per second, if the L.E.D.
turns red the unit is non-functional.
3.
Adjust the channel pot to channel position C.
