1. Go to the following website: https://visas-immigration.service.gov.uk/product/tier-4-student 2. Select ‘Apply now’ 3. Select ‘Save and continue’ at the bottom of each question. 4. If you have any other applications in process you will need to select ‘yes’ and enter that application reference number. This will vary that application which means that only this one will be considered. 5. 6. Please remember your password and the email address used. You will need these at your appointment. We recommend you use your ncl.ac.uk email address When you have created an account you will be emailed a link to this form. Keep this email safe, you will need this to re-enter your application. 7. 8. 9. Select ‘Continue’ to start the application. 10. Select ‘Answer questions about this person’. 11. 12. 13. Add your current address in the UK. When sending your application via the Visa Team, tick this box and add the Visa Team address as your correspondence address. 14. 15. If you have a second nationality (hold passports from more than one country) click here. You will be asked to provide evidence of this. 16. You will need to submit your passport with your application. If you select ‘no’ you will be taken to screen 18. 17. 18. Lost/Stolen passport. This page will only appear if you select that you do not have your passport. 19. If you do not currently have a Tier 4 General Student visa please check with the Visa Team if you can apply to switch in the UK. 20. You need to make your application before the end date of your current visa. Date of application = date of payment of online application. 21. 22. 23. This will be stated on your visa/decision letter. If you are required to register, your Police Registration Certificate is a mandatory document and MUST be submitted. Please ensure that it is updated with current address, etc. 24. If your last visa was granted as a BRP card select ‘yes’ and enter the BRP card number. If you have a BRP but it is not available to you, you will be asked why you do not have it with you. 25. The next 5 questions on the form ask how you can demonstrate your English language ability to the Home Office and will be clearly stated on your CAS. When you answer ‘yes’ to how your ability is demonstrated, the subsequent questions will not be asked and you will go straight to number 31. 26. 27. If your CAS states that we have assessed your English language ability for your course as being at CEFR B2, this is the option you would select. If you are not sure which English language option applies please select this one and we can address it at your appointment. 28. If your CAS states that we have assessed your English language ability for your course as you have previously completed a course of study at degree level or above in the UK this will be your option. Please note we will need to submit your original certificates to show this. 29. 30. The following questions only appear if you select ‘Yes’ to the above question. 31. 32. You must answer these questions honestly as the Home Office can check. If you answer yes to any of these questions you will be asked for further information. 33. 34. 35. 36. 37. The sponsor number for Newcastle University is CKTK52NU0 The sponsor’s address is the same as your correspondence address Level 2 King’s Gate, Newcastle University, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 7RU. 38. Your primary site of study is your school or institute address and this will be stated on your CAS. You should select ‘No’ and enter the address as it appears on the CAS. 39. Select ‘Yes’ if you applied through UCAS for your current course, and ‘No’ if you applied directly through the University’s portal. UCAS is used for undergraduate applications only and your UCAS number will be written on your offer letter or CAS. 40. Check your offer letter. If you require ATAS and you haven’t yet applied, you need to make an application NOW. Go to the Foreign Office website: www.gov.uk/academic-technologyapproval-scheme ATAS applications can take 30 working days or more and a CAS will not be issued until ATAS clearance is received. If you do need ATAS select ‘yes’ and enter your ATAS reference number from your certificate. 41. If you are currently sponsored you will need a Sponsor letter for your application which meets the Tier 4 guidelines. If you are no longer sponsored but have been in the last 12 months, you will need a letter from your sponsor giving unconditional consent to remain in the UK. 42. If you will continue to be sponsored you will need to provide a Sponsor letter which meets the Tier 4 guidance. We will be unable to state this information on your CAS. 43. You may only show the required funds in either your name or your parent(s)/legal guardian(s) names. Select ‘Yes’ if you are using money in account in your own name. You will not be asked these additional questions. If you select ‘No’ you need to confirm the money is in your parents name(s). Note that there are additional documents you will need to submit if using your parent’s bank statements. 44. The information you require for this section will be written on your CAS. ‘Qualification you will get‘ is the RQF related to the level of your study. eg. Bachelor = RQF 6 Master = RQF 7 PhD = RQF 8 English = CEFR You should then enter the Course name, Course start date and Course end date as they appear on your CAS. Please check these dates carefully. 45. 46. If you have paid Newcastle University money towards your accommodation select ‘Yes’ and enter how much up to a maximum £1265.00 This only applies if you have paid for and are staying in Newcastle University owned accommodation. Does not include managed sites such as Liberty Plaza. If you are not staying in Newcastle University accommodation or have not paid select ‘No’. 47. Enter your course fees as they appear on the CAS. If you have paid anything towards these fees select ‘Yes’ and enter the amount. If you have not paid anything towards these fees select ‘No’ If ‘fees paid’ do not appear on your CAS you will need to obtain an original Certificate of Tuition Fees. 48. This is as far as you will be able to go. We will email your CAS information to complete up to this point but your unique CAS reference number will be given to you at your appointment with the Visa Team. You will need to bring a print out of your answers so far to your visa appointment. Please do NOT use the facility to generate and print a PDF as the answers are in the wrong order and can hold up an appointment. Instead please click ‘show and edit answers’ and print the internet window. Please do NOT use this option to print your draft application. Instead print from the browser itself after you’ve chosen ‘show and edit answers’. This means all answers will be in the correct order for checking before we submit.
