arethin,wiry,andcanbecomeverydense.They
consistoftheclimbingfrondstemswhicharisefrom
thehorizontalstems(stolonsandrhizomes)onand
beneaththeground.

3Ͳ5Ͳforkedorlobed,ultimatedivisions
palmatelyandsometimesirregularlylobed.
Fertilepinnaearesmallerthansterilepinnulesbut
areotherwisesimilar.Themarginscontract,and
rolledleaftissuecoversporangiathat
producewinddispersedspores.Lygodium
palmatumisgenerallylocalandrare.This
speciesisnottolerantofshading.
