GLOBAL CLEARING - G. H. Financials

GLOBAL CLEARING
G. H. FINANCIALS NEWSLETTER
Issue: #9 | June 2016
The global exchange-traded derivatives market place is one of the most dynamic markets in the world.
G. H. Financials quarterly Newsletter – “Global Clearing” – aims to give our clients an overview and insight into
how G. H. Financials is leading from the front in adapting to an ever-changing market landscape in order to give our
clients market-leading service and support in their trading activities.
INTRODUCTION FROM CHICAGO
Mark Phelps, Global Head of Sales & Marketing
It’s hard to believe that we are nearly half way through 2016! The pace of this industry seems to get
faster every year, and I can tell you that along with this the hours get longer also!
Part of our strategy at GHF has always been to build a truly global clearing business, that meant
setting up offices in Chicago, London and Hong Kong and today that means handling clients from the
Far East and all the way across the globe to the west coast of America. Our business is seeing
tremendous growth across all regions in 2016 and I often get asked “what’s driving the growth at
GHF?”.
It’s not an easy question to answer but I will try, as there are various drivers in fact. Some of the larger
Bank clearers are off-boarding clients, and some of these are finding their way to GHF; we are a
non-Bank clearer and, with the use of ISA and OSA accounts, we are able to attract clients that
historically would not consider firms like ours to be a natural counterparty.
We are also fortunate enough to have what I call “niche” clearing memberships. For example, we
became a Eurex GCM 2 years ago, this is helping us to attract a number of Eurex NCMs. Last year we
became a remote clearing participant on ASX, which enables us to offer DMA and competitive rates to
clients outside of Australia.
But the one thing that is really driving the growth, it is the people who work at GHF. Our aim is to
become one of the largest, and most professional global clearers in the industry. It’s hard work but
we are inching closer towards our goal and I hope you will reach out to us if you want to find out more
about our services.
Enjoy the Summer and let’s hope for a busy second half for 2016.
