facilitates the organization and sharing of soft knowledge across the enterprise. Intelligence
about the people, things, and events that affect performance and efficiency is often times stored
in many disparate places (images, email messages, personal profiles, fact sheets, field reports,
palm pilots, etc.). InfoShare matches up this unstructured information with the hard facts. The
result is a completely integrated picture of the organization and its variables. The soft knowledge is

The possibilities for information sharing are endless:
Global Bookmark Explanations - Link global bookmarks to web pages that explain their
purpose and where to go next. For example, here a user can click on a daily P&L bookmark to see
what this view means and how to investigate particular areas of concern.
Launch Other Applications from Within Salient - Salient can now “talk to” other
applications so individuals can spend less time switching between applications. If it is related, it
can be linked.
Documentation Utility - How does management define each performance measure? What does
that metric mean? Where did it come from? Users can instantly understand what they are viewing
and how it relates to their daily job functions.

Salient Wiki - Lets groups of individuals organize their collective thoughts and ideas for
information sharing across the enterprise. Soft-knowledge is easily entered into web forms
connected to each entity (such as customers, products, stores, vendors, employees, etc.) and
knowledge about those parts of the business can be brought together by the individuals working
with them. Organize any kind of electronic soft-knowledge, even personal notations - explanations,
documents, pictures, videos and presentations.

InfoShare and Geo (available in Version 4.0 and higher) - Bring the power of the
Internet together with Geo maps (requires Geo licensing) for enhanced map information. You can
link points on the map to popular mapping sites on the Internet (for example, Google™ Maps). This
integration provides several capabilities. For example, click on a point on the map to get driving
directions, satellite images, related web sites, and more. You can even include your own labels,
such as location names, on the resulting maps.
How InfoShare Works
InfoShare links items in the Salient Interactive Miner directly to a dynamic repository of
unstructured intelligence. The links are easy to set up and maintain from within the Administrator’s
Utility. You can link to web pages that already exist, or use InfoShare as an opportunity to create a
centralized HTML repository for the information. The web pages can exist on the Internet, Intranet,
network location, or locally on each user’s machine. You decide. Each time a user clicks on an item
with the InfoShare Pointer, the Salient Interactive Miner dynamically creates the link based on the
item selected.
