Fitness Tip of the Week
Vary Your Cardiovascular Exercise
Training effects derived from
cardiovascular
exercise
are
specific to the type of exercise
performed and muscles involved. So if
you’re looking to achieve the best
results in a specific endurance event
like a bike race you need to train
by biking. When you’re exercising
for general health and fitness
you should consider choosing
more than one mode of exercise.
Benefits to participating in a
variety of cardiovascular activities
include: reduced boredom and
risk of overuse injury, as well
as increased long-term adherence.
When choosing activities, vary
selections between impact options
like running and non-impact options
like biking to obtain both the
bone-building benefits of impact
exercise and the “rest” time your
body needs to stay injury free!

Nutrition Tip of the Week
Try to get enough sleep.
People who get less sleep are
more likely to be overweight.
Researchers found that the
longer people are awake, the
more calories they consumed!
If you cannot get enough sleep,
keep snacks out of reach!
