Superior Paint Technology
The proprietary paint system of COLORBOND® steel gives it
long life, aesthetics and excellent corrosion resistance.
Resistance to Colour Change
The unique composition of the paint system consists of
tested stable resins and inorganic pigments. Stable resins
unlike regular resins do not break down as a result of UV
radiation, thus resisting fading, chalking, while inorganic
pigments such as iron oxide are renowned for their colour
stability when exposed to such conditions.
The unique quality of COLORBOND® steel is reinforced
by its ability to weather evenly to provide consistent colour
across the exposed surface.
Tested for Colour Performance
COLORBOND® steel is tested for all criteria for colour
coated steel to perform in the external environment and is
designed to be successful under ultraviolet exposure, high
temperature, humidity and salty atmosphere.
9
Design Flexibility
COLORBOND® steel is lightweight and strong, it provides
maximum flexibility and its extensive range of colours
ensure truly individual solutions.
It’s also easy to erect, and ensures long life with low
maintenance. Its easy formability and bending property
opens new horizons to the thoughts of architects.
Leading architects attest COLORBOND® steel for its
virtually limitless design possibilities. They use it for
everything from award-winning modern homes to modern
industrial sheds or innovative interior designing.
It is no surprise that COLORBOND® steel continues to be
the preferred option for numerous landmark projects in the
building and construction industry.

Durability
ZINCALUME® steel is chosen as the substrate for
COLORBOND® steel because of its superior ability to resist
corrosion upto four times longer than galvanised steel of
equivalent coating thickness.
By combining the strength of its steel substrate, with the
corrosion resistance of superior coating, COLORBOND®
steel ensures the aesthetic beauty of the finished product
will last for years to come.
As location changes, the environmental and weather
conditions vary from one extreme to the other. COLORBOND®
steel has proved to be an ideal solution for tropical climates,
capable of withstanding extreme environmental conditions,
and giving long lasting aesthetical looks to buildings.
At the same time, it also provides a safe, secure and durable
barrier against pests and intruders.
11
Superior Paint Adhesion
The coating used for manufacturing COLORBOND® steel
has been formulated to resist cracking and peeling during
forming and pressing at the roll form machine.
The high degree of ductility does not lead to softening in the
paint film hardness. Even after roll forming, COLORBOND®
steel resists peeling and flaking for much longer in
comparison to other products of the same category.
It can withstand conditions of high speed wind, hail, falling
branches and flying debris. Its top finish superbly resists
chipping and cracking too.
Water absorption through the paint film may result in blistering
and delamination. The special binder in COLORBOND®
steel provides resistance to this phenomenon, thereby
ensuring that the paint film is intact for long.

Thermal Efficiency
COLORBOND® steel with Thermatech™ Solar Reflectance
Technology (SRI value 81 for Surfmist) helps maintain greater
thermal comfort all year round. Because of this technology
incorporated in COLORBOND® steel, roof and wall made from
its Standard Colour will result in less heat radiated into the
building compared to other commonly used materials of similar
colour. The higher solar reflectivity and low thermal mass of
COLORBOND® steel, combined with insulation, makes it a cost
effective and energy efficient roofing & walling solution.
Environment Friendly
Buildings using COLORBOND® steel can be installed in a shorter
period of time. Unlike conventional building practices, there is
no mixing or wastage at site. Hence, there is no strain on the
local flora and the buildings blend easily with the environment.
COLORBOND® steel paint does not contain Lead, making it
a suitable option for water harvesting. Durability, recylability
and reusability are other environment friendly advantages of
COLORBOND® steel.

Tested for Assured Performance
COLORBOND® steel undergoes numerous tests for evaluating
its performance in different environments.
COLORBOND® steel is subjected to not only laboratory tests
but is also tested in the external environment to evaluate its
corrosion resistance and durability as compared to other prepainted steel. COLORBOND® steel has emerged superior in
corrosion resistance again and again. So why use any prepainted steel, when you can have the best and technically
proven product for your roof and wall cladding applications!
