1. How did technology change in the 1990s in the USA? What impact did this technological change
have on American Society?
Student answers to this may vary. Steve Jobs and Bill Gates had pioneered efforts for the average
American to own a personal computer by the 1990s. The connection of these computers meant, for the
first time, the average American had access to the World Wide Web. The internet revolutionized
businesses and linked various regions of the world together. New businesses, such as Amazon, began
selling online and this radically increased trade. In America, Satellites, video games, medical
improvements, increased communication technologies, and other changes originated from the
technological change of the 1990s.
