FOUNDATIONS: VISIONS AND DREAMS
Visions and dreams are One of several ways God communicates to his children.
The Enemy pervades this by distorting dreams and thus terrifying the dreamer.
The word dream or dreams appears 87 times in the Bible. In the Law of First
Mention, the word dream is first mentioned in Genesis 20:3 when God warned
Abimelech in a dream , rebuking Him of taking Abraham's wife. Hence they are
meant to correct, warn and give direction as Abimelech received revelation on
how barrenness can end in His Household because of his sin. Dreams occur
whilst Man sleeps or a state of rest,relaxation. They are in scripture also referred
to as Night Visions.(Job33:15)
Vision is mentioned 97 times in the Bible. First Mention is in Genesis 15:1 when
God spoke to Abram declaring that He is his exceedingly great reward.
TRUTHS ABOUT DREAMS.
1) Dreams & Visions are means of divine communication
2) Dreams & Visions occur to both believers and non- believers.
3) Dreams and Visions are prophetic revelations
4) The Recurrence of Dreams or visions mean establishment and hat the dream
will shortly come to pass ( Gen.41:32)
5) Dreams tend to be instructive.
6) In Visions &Dreams, God uses the simple things to illustrate the complex.
7) God can reveal one's destiny and calling through a vision or dream.
8) Dreams have meaning and require interpretation.( Interpretation requires Gift
and Grace)(Genesis40:5-8)(Daniel 1:17) they require understanding.
9) Dreams can be forgotten easily ( Job 20:8)
10) Dreams can occur to persons of all ages ( Acts2:17)
TERRIFYING DREAMS/ NIGHTMARES.
Dreams are originally one of several ways God communicates with Man, the
enemy ( Satan ) also counters or counterfeits dreams to terrorise the dreamer.
God may cause restlessness, discomfort to a person always to communicate
with them in warnings or conviction. (Darius, Pilate's wife)
In terrifying dreams, unpleasant occurrences or experiences can be experienced,
all have meaning. The experiences are pain, sorrow etc.
The Devil manipulates usually a person who is not consistently engaged in His/
Her relationship with God.
The dreams manipulated by satan ( Tormenting dreams) usually cause the
dreamer to feel immense fatigue, shock , physical pain and mental anguish.

1) Dreams in which one is fighting usually speaks of spiritual warfare.
