Summer Reading Project
Hello, upcoming fifth grade students! You will be required to complete a
reading project on your own during the summer. It will be due the 2nd day
of school. You will begin your adventure by picking one of the books listed
below to read during the summer and completing the following assignments:

 Frindle by Andrew Clements
 The Summer of the Swans by Betsy Byars
 The Cay by Theodore Taylor
Assignment Directions:
1. Pick and read one of the books listed above.
2. Questions: Answer the questions from this packet that goes along with
your book. The answers to the questions should be numbered and
written in complete sentences on notebook paper.
3. Presentation: Complete the four-page “Story Elements Presentation”.
All answers should be in complete sentences with correct spelling,
grammar, and punctuation.
4. Folder: The answers to the questions and the Story Elements
Presentation should be neatly organized and placed inside a three prong
folder. The folder is due the 2nd day of school!
