ORDER FORM Page 1 of 2 THE RESERVE FORCES DAY COUNCIL’S RECOGNITION IN 2013 The recognition in 2013 was on the 23,000 Reservists including 60 Nurses, 500 permanent soldiers and a gun battery who served in the Boer War and the attributes they brought back from the war into the Militia units and the foundations they forged and skills they took to WWI. They set a high standard for the future Australian Army and formed the genesis of the highly regarded traditions of the Australian Military Forces. "At the moment of Australian Federation, volunteer militia units from each of the Australian colonies were serving in South Africa in the Boer war. It can be truly said that the Australian Army was born in battle" The celebrations also acknowledged the wonderful service of our current and former Reservists to the Nation. The bars will show the dedication of service of your veteran relative. They will be easily recognisable and are in the same colours as the medallion and are designed to fit in the “V” of the neck ribbon. The ribbon will be held flat by a clutch pin on the left and right side of the middle of the bars.
