Departure from the United States to Munich, Germany
for a trip to “Where it All Began.”
DAY 2: MUNICH
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2017
Upon arrival to Munich airport, meet our tour manager
and freshen up at our hotel before we visit Munich
concluding the tour at the Marienplatz square with its
famous clock tower. Wilkommen to Germany at the
world famous Hofbrauhaus Brewery. Experience one of
Munich’s oldest breweries founded in 1589; their
name, known the world over. This evening we meet
all our fellow travellers for a Welcome Dinner. Enjoy
getting to know each other as we embark and discuss
our sensational journey through three countries,
starting off with this special Bavarian evening featuring
local dishes, drink and music.

DAY 3: MUNICH – DACHAU
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2017
First destination after breakfast will be the historical
visit to the Dachau, Concentration Camp. Venture on as
we discover St. Michael’s Abbey at Metten in Bavaria.
Our visit to the “Grandmother” Abbey of our very own
St. Bede Abbey founded in 766 AD will bring us back to
our roots as we see the home of where it all began. The
evening concludes with a gathering for dinner
featuring local cuisine.

DAY 4: MUNICH – OBERAMMERGAU
DAY 7: SALZBURG
After breakfast we depart to explore King Ludwig’s
magnificent Neuschwanstein Castle, one of the most
famous German castles and copied by Walt Disney at
his theme parks. Enjoy free time to make your discoveries
in Fussen before we drive to Oberammergau where we
will check in and then dine at the Wittelsbach Hotel.

In the morning, after breakfast, head to explore this
amazing city with a local guide. Our tour will feature
views of the Mirabel gardens, Helbrunn and Mozarteum.
Wrap up the afternoon as you enjoy a tour of where
The Sound of Music was filmed and walk in the footsteps
of Julie Andrews and the Von Trapp Family Singers.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2017
DAY 5: OBERAMMERGAU
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2017 After breakfast, experience mass in a local church,
followed by a tour of Oberammergau. Take a stroll,
enjoy the peace, and view the site where The Passion
Play takes place. Experience a “Spirited” tradition
within the monastery walls of the Benedictine
Ettal Monastery. Here we will spend the afternoon
strolling through the basilica, brewery and distillery
followed by dinner.

DAY 6: OBERAMMERGAU – SALZBURG
MONDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2017
Enjoy your last German breakfast as we head on to
Salzburg in Austria. Panoramic drive through the city
and arrive to hotel. The balance of the day is at leisure
and then get ready for dinner at St. Peter Stiftskeller,
within the monastery walls of St. Peter’s Archabbey.
St. Peter is cited as one of the oldest restaurants in
the world and the oldest in Europe. Both Wolfgang
Amadeus Mozart and Christopher Columbus are said
to have been served at the restaurant.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2017
DAY 8: SALZBURG – LJUBLJANA
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2017
Breakfast and afterwards we depart towards Slovenia’s
capital Ljubljana with few stops along the way
including the Silent Night church. Arrive to Ljubljana
in the early afternoon and see the most significant
sights of the old city center on a walking tour. Highlights
include the picturesque open-air Central Market, and
the Three Bridges. The Triple Bridge is probably the
most unusual and the most frequently crossed bridge
in Ljubljana. Before settling down to dinner at Strelec
in the original Ljubljana Castle tower, we will visit the
Baroque Town Hall, and Robba’s Fountain.

DAY 9: LJUBLJANA - BLED
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2017
Enjoy breakfast and have the morning free in
Ljubljana before we drive to Bled. Today, take in the
the views of Lake Bled from the top of Bled Castle, the
oldest castle in Slovenia. The history of the medieval
castle reaches back to 1004, and also includes a moat
and drawbridge. We will then take a relaxing trip to
the small Island of Bled on a Pletna, a traditional
wooden flat-bottom boat made by locals. An experience
you must do, if you visit Bled. In the afternoon drive

back to Ljubljana. Gather this evening for dinner at the
popular Lectar; opened for over 200 years and serves
portions that won’t send you home hungry.

DAY 10: JERUZALEM - VIENNA
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2017
After breakfast we begin our departure from Slovenia
as we travel along the Jeruzalem Wine Road, which
glows with vivid colors in every season. We will stop
in Jeruzalem for wine tasting and a late lunch before
our evening arrival in Vienna where you’ll have
opportunity to unwind from the day.

DAY 11: VIENNA
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2017
Our morning visit will be to Hofburg Palace, once
the home of the Habsberg emperors, and view the
Belvedere Palace, Prater Amusement Park, the UN
Buildings, St. Stephen’s Cathedral and other reminders
of the city’s imperial past. Enjoy an afternoon of free
time to venture out on your own and pick up any last
souvenirs. Our farewell dinner tonight includes
entertainment at Gerstners Landhaus, private room
“Presse.” The estate, which dates back to the 12th century,
will charm you with its cozy rooms, historic vaulted
cellars and romantic garden. A great way to wrap up
our memorable adventure of where it all began...

BONNIE POHAR PROKUP
Meet Bonnie Pohar Prokup Special Events at St. Bede Academy since 2009. Prior to that Bonnie has traveled extensively during
her career at American Airlines. Germany and Austria continue to be favorite countries and her all-time favorite Slovenia, where
her family comes from. Bonnie has been out of the country more than 100 times on trips of all sizes that she organized.
Since 2004 she has shared her passion for organizing large bus trips to Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Italy, Slovakia, Hungary,
Poland and Czech Republic. Her knowledge is shared long before departure with an informational meeting on the trip, a
Facebook page for the group with tips and when it gets closer a packing demonstration and review of what to bring and do prior
to the trip. Her trips are well known and sold out by many repeat customers. It’s exciting and fun that our St. Bede family can
now travel to great places together. “I believe and work hard in offering the best value for the dollar and creating memories that

JULIA YAKLICH
Julia Yaklich has been travelling internationally since she was a child. In her youth she lived in Venezuela and Argentina for over
10 years, and has extensively travelled throughout South America. Her travel experience has also taken her to Europe several
times. For 15 years she managed the travel program at Citizens First National Bank and organized both domestic and foreign
travel. As Development Director at St. Bede, Julia is excited to bring the St. Bede family together in yet another way to make
memories and connect the friends, families and alumni of St. Bede Academy. “I promise our trips will be one-of-a-kind and ones
to learn from and ones to remember forever.”
