Vocabulary – Common Language II With a partner, define the terms

Vocabulary – Common Language II
With a partner, define the terms by adhering to these instructions:
1) Each partner will look at a different source (find film resources with lists and descriptions – do NOT just look up
the word in google and find the definition at the top of the search page; go into a glossary/list – why you ask? So you
can be surrounded by other film terms and by default, learn a little more! – if you look at the first vocab assignment on
9/2, there were suggested sources) and
a) find term and compare definitions: this is done by having a conversation about each term
b) then work together to understand and write down the definition in the chart
c) talk about examples in movies/shows you’ve seen
2) Then find a visual example/an image that helps to clarify or gives an example of the term.
a) do NOT just use the examples that may accompany the terms in your resources, instead, with your
partner search for specific images that you can relate to and are suitable
3) Create a bibliography for the terms (not really a works cited because you do not need to identify where each
term came from, just a properly formatted bibliography of all the sources used). Add the bibliography after the
chart.
4) If you finish in class:
a) turn in one assignment with both of your names to turnitin
If you do not finish in class:
a) you may continue to work together online to compete the assignment and turn one copy (with both
names) to turnitin OR
b) at the end of class, each partner will have a copy of the partially completed assignment and will finish
on their own – each turning one in to turnitin.
5) Due Tuesday - BOTH partners should have their own copy/access to the definitions at the start of class.
6) Remember – the point of this is to have a conversation about the terms and work together to understand
and find examples. Do NOT divi-up the terms; that is not the point.
