—Profewor Ford, of New York City,
very agreeably entertained the patleote
of the Asylum and a few vlsltow in
Amusement Hall of that iu»titutioD
last Thursday night with a programme
of miscellaneous recitatloud, variously
of pathetic and humorou* character
which for excellency of performance
we have never seen or heard equalled.
The singing, too, of Prof. Ford wa» in
itself something Immense, and throughout the delightful entertainment the
assembled inmates of the Asylum evidently ai keenly appreciated its pathetic and humorous features as would an
audience of ordinary make-up. The
Professor has a wonderful voice and it
it wonderfully trained and we regarded
it as a rare privilege alike to Uear and
see bis entrancing performances.

O preserve the richness of color or delicacy of tint of your summer dresses, make suds of hot water and IVORY SOAP, allow to
cool until lukewarm, then wash your dresses in the solution. Ordinary soaps contain too much alkali, which in a short time bleaches
the color and destroys its beauty. Prof. Silliman, of Yale College,
says, "The IVORY SOAP can not injure the most delicate fabric."
