6th Grade Spanish Project
Project Assigned – Thursday, September 8, 2011
Project Due – Monday, September 19, 2011
Students will be given three class periods in the computer lab to research and work on their projects
(Monday, 9/12, Tuesday, 9/13, and Thursday, 9/15). All students should bring a flash drive to class on
these three days. Failure to bring a flash drive to save work will result in a homework notice. The
students are also encouraged to do additional work on their projects at home. The project will be
presented in class the week of Monday, September 19 and will be worth a test grade.
Each student will be assigned a Spanish-speaking country. They will complete a PowerPoint
presentation with key information about each country, which may include, but is not limited to:
location, important cities (including the capital), geography, political structure, monetary system, culture
(food, clothing, music, art, etc.), educational system, etc. Then the students will focus on three areas of
this country’s culture and compare/contrast them with American culture. At least one of these
comparisons should be made regarding something that relates to their age group/their peers.
The PowerPoint presentation should be brought to school on the student’s flash drive on Monday,
September 19, and will be transferred to my computer so I may review them for a grade. Any
presentation not turned in on this date will be considered late, and the student will lose 10 points per
day until it is turned in.
Grades for the presentation will be based 75% on the PowerPoint itself, and 25% on the class
presentation. Students should be careful not to plagiarize, and should cite all sources used on the last
slide(s) of the presentation.
