PRINCIPAL REPORT
Dear Parent / Caregiver
For many of us, our schooling years hold some of our dearest
and fondest of memories. It is where we make lifelong
friendships and participate in activities and events that shape
and influence our lives until we reach the milestone of
adulthood. One of these memorable events occurred last week
for the 630 students and interested parents of the school who
came along to witness the landing of the Westpac Rescue
Helicopter on the school oval.
For those who missed this opportunity we had a really
interesting and informative afternoon with the team from
Westpac Noosa and the Surf Lifesaver Rescue Crew. After
speaking to the children about their various roles and
communicating some important messages about swimming
between the flags and learning to swim the guys shared some
stories of their work experiences. The children had the
opportunity to ask a number of questions about their work and
were then treated to an up close viewing of the helicopter.
Finally we all sat in front of the chopper for a whole of school
photo.
I would like to take the opportunity again to thank the Westpac
Bank for their sponsorship of the helicopter and for selecting
Eumundi as one of only 20 schools who will be visited this year
– What a memory!
NAPLAN
It has been positive to see the high levels of participation in this
year’s NAPLAN testing. Thanks to our families for supporting
our Year 3 and Year 5 students in helping them to be confident
in preparing for the tests. In my conversations with the students
I am very impressed with their attitude leading up to and during
NAPLAN. It is very much an opportunity for our students to give
it their best effort. A catch-up day is being held this Friday for
those students who may have been absent for any of the first
three days of testing. Results of these tests will be available
between July / August. Parents will be informed when these are
available.
School Uniforms
A reminder with the cooling of the weather that all students
are required to attend school in full school uniform. The school
Uniform Shop stocks zip jackets and polar fleece vests for the
winter months along with black or green tights to keep legs
warm. Please ensure that you label all clothing items as with
the days starting off cool before warming up we often have a
number of jumpers in lost property by the end of the week. Your
assistance with maintaining pride in our uniform is appreciated.
District Cross Country
Well done to our Cross Country Team which competed at Kin
Kin on Monday. From all reports the children represented the
school with pride and performed to the best of their ability
throughout the course of the day.
Congratulations to Hayden S (1st 12 Years Boys), Lexi S (3rd
10 Years Girls) and Brooke J (7th 10 Years Girls) who will now
go on to represent Noosa District at the Regional Cross Country
Trials.
Mother Day Stall
Our fabulous P & C will be running their very popular Mothers’
Day Stall on Friday 12 May in the undercover area near the
Tuckshop. Dads, this is your turn to make sure the kids are
organised and have some spare pocket money to buy mum
that special gift! A big thank you to our small army of volunteers
who give their time to prepare and then run this much loved
stall.
P & C Day - 12 May
Friday 12 May is recognised across Queensland as a day to
acknowledge and celebrate our amazing and dedicated
Parents’ and Citizens’ Associations. There is no doubt Eumundi
would not be the incredible, caring and well-resourced school
that it is without the vital input and support from the P&C.
Thanks to Aaron and his team for their time, enthusiasm and
passion for dedicating their work to the students who attend
the school – it is greatly appreciated.
Enjoy your week
Mick

START SMART TELEPORTERS FOR YEARS 1
AND 2 STUDENTS
In the final week of Term 1 most P-6 classes had a 40 minute
workshop where the students were learning about ways to
make smart decisions about money. Some classes
unfortunately missed out and will be rescheduled in November
due to Cyclone Debbie.
All Year 1 and 2 students will be taking home a free teleporter
and storybook, “Sammy the Space Koala.” Parents can
download an app called “The Teleporter Adventures” to use
with the teleporter.
It has been designed so parents and students can work
together in a fun way at home. We trialled it and loved it, it’s lots
of fun1!!!
These teleporters will be sent home with those Year 1 and 2
classes who have completed the workshops, others will get it
in November when the workshops have been rescheduled.
For the app go below https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/the-teleporter-adventures/

Monday 15th May. If you have not received an invoice please
contact the office. This invoice covers Goombuckar (which is
the first activity at the end of May), Life Education, Street
Science and Raw Art. Students who have not paid will not be
able to participate as the school must pay the provider for each
attendant.
SPORT REPORT
Noosa District Sport Representatives
Congratulations to the following Eumundi students who were
successful in gaining selection at recent Noosa District Sporting

Special mention must go to Arabella who was successful in

Over the next few weeks all year 3 to 6 students will be
participating in athletics trials during their weekly PE lessons.
Additional trial time may be allocated outside of these lessons
for any students who are absent during PE, if circumstances
allow.
The trials allow us to select students from each house to go
in the Championship events during the Year 3 - 6 Athletics
Carnival, which will be held on Thursday 15 June.
The situation for each event is as follows:• 100m - everyone runs in the heats on Carnival day
• 200m - 2 students per age group from each house
are selected to go in Championship

Championship. This event is scheduled before the
carnival on Wednesday 14 June.
• Long Jump - 3 students per age group from each
house are selected to go in Championship
• High Jump - 2 students per age group from each
house are selected to go in Championship
ADMIN NEWS

will be late to school, there is no need to call the absence line,
they just need to come into the office to sign in. You will still
receive a text that your child is absent as they are actually not
on the school site and were not present when the roll was
marked. Signing in as late will then cancel the absence.
Year 5 Camp deposit is due on 9th June. If your child is
participating, please ensure this is paid by this due date. If
• Shot Put - 3 students per age group from each
house are selected to go in Championship
*** Please note, that in long jump, high jump and shot put,

MUSIC NOTES
After a wonderful tribute in song to our past and present
Australians for Anzac, our choir is geared to perform again early
in the 2nd Term. This Friday morning, we will be in the tuckshop
area with many enthusiastic Year 3 student, singing ‘Sit Awhile’
for Mums and Grand Mums alike. Watch out for our future
choir students with a great rendition of ‘A You’re Adorable’
from the Year 1 children too. Wednesday 17th May finds the
choir at Coolum State School combining with hundreds of other
students in song. On Saturday 20th May, we perform at the

This year we will have gorgeous handmade cards for sale,
made by one of our own Eumundi Mums, Jeanette Grevett.
Gifts have been sourced through Eumundi Village Pharmacy,
thanks to another one of our gorgeous Mums. Stay tuned
on Facebook for sneak peeks at what will be available. Any
helpers on the day would be greatly appreciated.
Prep classes will visit with their teachers, all other students are
welcome to visit during opening hours.
GLUTEN FREE STUDENTS
The Eumunchi Café now have many items on our menu that suit
students needing gluten-free choices. Gluten-free items include
chicken nuggets, rice paper rolls, pizza, sandwiches, toasties,
salads, nachos, sushi, hot dogs on gf bread, chicken burgers
on gf bread, frittatas, and homemade sausage rolls.
Jenni, a mum from ESS, is also making and delivering to the
Café every Monday morning gluten-free and dairy-free treats.
Over the last couple of weeks we have had scrumptious berry
muffins, chocolate crackles, and yummy chocolate balls. We
freeze what is not sold on Monday for the rest of the week.
Make sure when you order gluten-free or dairy-free meals to
mark the bag so we know what is required. Although care is
always taken we cannot guarantee that menu items are 100%
free of gluten, as there is always a possibility of trace amounts
crossing over from other kitchen areas and menu items.
FLEXISCHOOLS
A great way to order tuckshop is over the flexischool system.
Just register on Flexischools.com.au and start ordering. No
brown bags to write on, no coins to find and no reason to
even visit the tuckshop. Although we do like people visiting
us, especially if you are going to volunteer. You can order
in advance, modify the menu items as required, and even
repeat the same orders each week. Once you start using the
flexischool system you will love the simplicity of it.
UNIFORM SHOP
Don’t forget the uniform shop is open in the Café every morning
from 8 to 10am. New fleecy jumpers are in and ESS jackets
in all sizes except size 8. We also sell stockings, beanies and
scarves for these cold wintery mornings. Orders can also be
made over the flexischool system. We will deliver the order to
your child in their class as soon as the order comes in.
CHAPPY CHAT
Hi everyone,
Wow term 2 certainly is a busy term. We had our first
Chaplaincy Support Meeting and it was great to have some
mum’s come along and share their ideas and get on board with
what we can do at the school. If you would like to get involved
in anyway please contact me at the school to see what you can
do.
This week we had our first ever DAD’S/STEP-DAD’S Triple P
Parenting Program. It was just so encouraging to have Dad’s
come along and talk together and share their parenting
experiences and to be reminded of how important they are to
their kids and families. If you are interested in attending the next
Seminar it is on Monday 15th May at The Imperial Hotel from
6.30pm – 8.30pm.
Community Care Cook Up – on Monday 15th May- from
1.30pm - we will be doing a cook up of meals that we will be
freezing and handing out to anyone who may need an extra
meal. It might just be that we see that you’ve been extra busy,
life’s thrown you a curve ball, you’ve just had a baby or just lost
someone close to you, a home cooked meal can make such a
difference in times like these. If you would like to help out let me
know or if you’d like to donate food please drop it off at the front
of the Art House…there will be a box out the front door….also
only non-perishable foods please.
That’s all from me for now so have a great couple of weeks.
Remember if you need to chat with me I am at the school every
Monday and Wednesday in the Art House.
