Week Beginning: 11.5.15
Theme: Under the Sea
Does anyone have any old saucepans, baking tins, utensils or washing up bowls they no longer want? We would
like to use them to enhance our outdoor play!
Literacy: We will be reading non-fiction books to find out more information about sea
creatures. We will then explore different ways of presenting our information.
How you can help: Talk to your child about creatures that live in the sea – Which is their
favourite sea creature? Can you find out some facts about it?
Phonics: We will be revising our Phase 3 sounds. We will practise identifying them orally, reading them in words
and using them in our writing.
How you can help: Use the sentences, given to your child today, to practise reading words with Phase 3 sounds in
and if they are competent with this, help them to make up a sentence to write
Maths: We will be developing our use of mathematical language when talking about and
comparing measure
How you can help: Help your child to complete these maths challenges: Who is the tallest
person in your house? Who is the shortest person in your house? How did you measure
them?
Who has the longest feet? Who has the shortest feet? How do you know?
* Thank you for your support in letting the children come into class by themselves. They have
managed very well so far and have quickly settled to their independent learning *
