Event Kit We hope this packet will help you to create an interactive ART2-D2 event that’s fun for everyone. Please read through the activities on these pages and decide what works for your needs and for the kids who turn out. MAY THE DOODLES BE WITH YOU! First Things First This packet includes a number of suggestions for folding and doodling activities that will make for a fun event. You’ll have to gauge the size of your crowd to determine which of these activities and materials will work best. You might want to only do one or two of the activites, or do them all. Enclosed Materials 1 package of 20 Art2-D2 pencils 10 Art2-D2’s Guide to Folding and Doodling 16-page samplers 8 sheets of green paper (to cut into origami squares) Pencils Use these as prizes, or give a pencil to each kid at your event. 16-page Samplers Put these by the register for customers to take, or use them as prizes. Origami Paper Cut the enclosed green paper to make 32 origami squares. Instructions on how to cut the paper are below. If you need more squares, use any 8.5 x 11” sized paper (examples: computer or construction paper). Directions to cut paper: 1) Fold the 8.5 x 11” green paper in half from top to bottom & then unfold. 2) Next, fold the paper in half from left to right and unfold. 3) Cut along the fold lines, which results in four squares of origami paper. Getting Started We’d like to ask that you please kick off the event by reading the following letter from Tom Angleberger to the group. My idea for ART2-D2 was to let Kellen, Dwight, and the rest of the gang from ORIGAMI YODA make a case file of everything cool they can do! Origami, kirigami, doodling, talking like Yoda, making a t-shirt, fake cracking your knuckles, and on and on . . . it's all in there. And we wanted to add something extra special for the readers, so all copies of ART2-D2 include perforated origami paper in the proper colors for their character. For example, it includes green/brown paper to fold Origami Yoda and all black paper to fold Darth Paper. The book is just crammed with stooky stuff! But it’s no good until YOU open it up and give it a try. Oops, wait . . . I didn’t mean try. . .
