Barany received the A-10 Coach of the Year award in 2011. The Spiders continue their successful dominance of the A-10 in winning 9 A-10 championships. Richmond has sent swimmers to the NCAA championship in 7 of the last 8 years as well as sending swimmers to the 2008 Olympic Trials in Omaha. The Competitive Camp Who: Ideal for year-round and high school boys and girls ages 13-18 looking to focus on advanced competitive details. The camp will assume extensive training backgrounds, and will not serve as an endurance camp. The camp will be coached by two DI head swim coaches with a small limit of 30 swimmers. Registration: Sunday: Registration and camp gift (t-shirt & swim cap) pickup at noon. Dryland Swim Session Lunch & Rec Classroom Session Swim Session Camp ends Dryland and Swim Sessions will aim to create good swimming habits. All aspects of competitive swimming will be covered: the four competitive strokes, starts and turns, and race strategy. Lunch on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday will be served at Heilman Dining Center located on campus. All swimmers will be given a cap to wear at the camp. Camp fees include lunch, t-shirt, and cap. James Madison Coach Samantha Smith Coach Smith coaches the women’s swim team at her alma mater in Harrisonburg, VA. Smith has developed a Duke Dog team that has steadily improved since her arrival in 2004. In 2011, JMU broke 16 school records in finishing second in the CAA and sent its first female athlete to the NCAA championship. Coach Smith coached the Spider swim camp in 2010.
