How To Be Considerate, Prevent Slow Play And Get In Before Dark
We have people behind us today and we can’t give EWGA or women a bad name. We play ready golf.
Here are some ideas I discussed with a local Golf Professional. Many of these ideas are not consistent
with tournament play…. But we are not playing in a tournament!

Keep the group in front of you no more than a stroke ahead;
If the course is stacked with groups behind you, then you are really playing slow and it will
annoy others – LET THE GROUP PLAY THROUGH;
Park carts TOWARDS the next hole;
Remember that the riding cart is the responsibility of both golfers. When riding, while your
partner is hitting, take the cart and get to as close to your ball as possible without getting in
front of the person hitting, or take 2-3 clubs and walk to your ball. Think about your shot, pick
your club and take your practice swings while they are hitting. NO STANDING AROUND
WATCHING OR CHATTING. Your partner should either catch-up while you are hitting or you can
catch each other and move on;
FOCUS! Try to take one practice swing, then go;
If putting and your ball is within the leather (and others agree), you can pick up and move on,
do it! This is causal golf! Record the “gimmie” as one stroke.
Finally if you are having a bad hole, which happens to everyone, after eight to ten strokes,
pickup, go to the next hole and start over. Be happy.
Casual golf does not mean slow golf!
OK, let’s go and see how we do. Many of us meet for dinner afterwards, let’s get our visiting in then.
Learning to play “ready and fast golf” is the best way to play enjoyable golf for everyone!
