Empty 500ml plastic water bottle
Water from the hot tap
(Be careful and get an adult to help)
1. Fill the empty water bottle
with hot water from the tap.
Make sure you get an adult to
help you and be careful.
2. Pour the water out
carefully and quickly screw
the cap back on tight!
3. Wait and watch as the bottle
slowly starts to crush.
When you pour the water out, the air
in the bottle is still hot. Because you
screw the lid on it can’t escape. As the
air cools down it contracts - taking up
less space, making pressure inside the
bottle lower than outside. So the
flimsy bottle slowly crushes! You can
make it seem like you did it with your
mind haha!
Get an adult to help
you pouring the hot
water. Be careful.
•Try using a flimsy plastic bottle
and take the label off
•Try crumple the bottle before to
weaken it
•Screw the cap on quick and tight
