With a powerful V8, sophisticated 4WD chassis systems, and seating for five, the Lexus LX 450d is one of the few
luxury utility vehicles that combines sumptuous luxury with true off-road capability. The front of the new LX 450d
wears an even bolder rendition of the Lexus signature spindle grille, framed by elegant satin chrome trim
and complemented by distinctive new standard LED headlights, turn signals and fog lights. The design
includes roof rails, new 20-inch mesh wheels with a machine finish for a luxurious
feel, and sporty image.
INTERIOR
Leading-edge safety, navigation and performance technologies make the new LX450d as intelligent as it is elegant.
Inside the LX 450d, a new 12.3-inch display with Remote Touch Interface (RTI) heads a list of multimedia and
connectivity upgrades that keep the LX 450d on the cutting edge of user technology. With the 12.3-inch screen,
navigation gains full-screen map capability, and there are menu shortcut buttons on the side of the screen.
The second-row provides a USB port and the armrest features controls for the air conditioning and audio.
The LX 450d is an ideal vehicle for getting away from it all while still staying informed,
entertained and connected.
A new standard feature, the panoramic view camera, (multi terrain monitor) is an invaluable
aid when hitching and manoeuvering a trailer, viewing the surround terrain when
off-roading, and helping view the area around the vehicle (sides, front and rear)
when manoeuvering tight spaces.

DRIVER SUPPORT
SYSTEMS / SAFETY
Ten standard airbags feature among the
comprehensive occupant protection measures
in the LX 570, and a wide array of driver-assist
technologies help the driver to avoid hazards.
On steep slopes or uneven terrain, crawl control
automatically works the throttle and brakes to help
keep the vehicle steadily moving forward, sensing
when one wheel might spin and then compensation
by applying more torque to another, while you
concentrate on driving.
Automatic High Beam (AHB) adjusts high- and
low-beam illumination automatically when it
detects oncoming traffic or the taillights of the
vehicle travelling in front.
The LX offers excellent all-around visibility, but
drivers can appreciate the extra help from the
standard Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) with Rear
Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA). Also with the goal of
helping keep the driver’s eyes on the road, the LX
puts more information directly in line of sight with
the newly available Heads-up Display (HUD). The
Heads-up Display shows information such as
vehicle speed, Cruise Control, warnings, and
other information icons.

Our L-finesse (L = leading edge) creative language allows
Lexus designers to express power and strength with great
finesse – creating vehicles that are forward-looking and
deeply artistic. Look closer at the LX 570 and the intriguing
design elements reveal themselves: the ‘spindle-shaped’
grille that reflects the latest in Lexus design and the distinctive
LED headlights, daytime running lights and front fog lamps.
Attention to detail is apparent throughout this vehicle. For
example, to achieve peace and comfort at high speeds, wind
noise is reduced by the meticulous design of bodywork seals,
door mirrors and window frame mouldings.

The LX 570 is a vehicle of contrasts. Outside, the
impression is of strength, solidity and resolve. Inside, it’s a
remarkably quiet and comfortable place to be, thanks to
extensive soundproofing and anti-vibration measures.
The exquisitely finished interior sets the standards in SUV
refinement and luxury. While behind the wheel, you’ll
notice how the ergonomic cockpit surrounds you for a
really relaxed and comfortable drive. Everything you
touch in the LX 570 communicates the vehicle’s quality
– from the finely stitched, leather-trimmed steering wheel
and soft–touch leather that contrasts with finely varnished
Shimamoku Brown inserts, to the stunning multi-media
graphics on this flagship SUV.
LEATHER SEATS, REAR SEAT ENTERTAINMENT
The LX 570 is a very relaxing place to be, even on the
longest journeys. The leather seats are extremely
comfortable and have extra lateral support that you’ll
particularly appreciate when driving off-road.
The premium grade leather – that is perforated so it can
‘breathe’ – is machine-stitched for precision, yet finished
and checked by a Lexus master craftsperson. A rear seat
home-theatre experience is offered with the LX 570’s
Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE) system, with screens
mounted at the back of the front seat headrests. Operated
by remote control, monitor can show a different film or
video game and offers the choice of playing audio
through headphones or the 19 speakers.

OFF-ROAD TECHNOLOGY
For maximum traction, the torque-sensing differential distributes power according to the grip available at each wheel.
MULTI-TERRAIN MONITOR
Miniature cameras are strategically positioned in both of the door mirror housings, the front grille and the rear bumper.
These relay up to four live images to the Multi-Terrain Monitor, providing a near 360° view around the vehicle. This helps
the driver spot rocks, ruts, crevices or sheer drops that might otherwise be obscured from view.
FOUR-WHEEL ACTIVE HEIGHT CONTROL
DIESEL POWER
The LX 450d’s formidable 4.5-liter V8 diesel engine produces 195 kW of power and 650 Nm of torque. With its V8
cylinder block die-cast in a lightweight yet strong aluminium alloy, it is also an engine that will last – providing great
reliability and durability. A 6-speed automatic transmission offers enhanced performance and efficiency. Drive Mode
Select allows the LX 450d driver to tailor powertrain and suspension responses by using a dial on the console. The
system also controls responses of the Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS), which continually adjusts shock absorber
damping rates while driving, helping to ensure optimal comfort, even when the road surface changes.
SUPREME V8 POWER
The LX 570 luxury SUV is powered by the largest engine ever fitted to a Lexus. Delivering 270 kW of power and 530
Nm of torque, it works seamlessly with a very flexible 8-speed ‘paddle shift’ automatic transmission for both dynamic and
smooth gear changes. The LX 570 will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds up to a top speed of 210 km/h
(electronically limited). With its V8 cylinder block die-cast in lightweight yet strong aluminium alloy, it is also an engine
that will last – giving great reliability and durability. During development, Lexus engineers tested the drivetrain for 1.3
million kilometres – the equivalent of 32 times around the globe.

Intelligent control of air-suspension technology automatically adjusts the ground clearance at each wheel. By making
continuous, individual adjustments according to the terrain, this Lexus world-first technology ensures optimum off-road
vehicle balance and control.
MULTI-TERRAIN SELECT
The LX 570 is specified with the world’s most advanced off-road technologies, including multi-terrain ABS and Crawl
Control. For peerless command of wilderness conditions, Multi-Terrain Select adjusts multiple vehicle systems to best
negotiate the chosen terrain: Loose Rock, Mud/Sand, Mogul, Rock or Rock/Dirt. At low speeds, Crawl Control intelligently
applies throttle and braking applications – optimised by multi-terrain ABS. This lets the driver focus exclusively on steering
the LX 570 in the toughest of off-road conditions.

COMPREHENSIVE AIRBAG PROTECTION
The LX is specified with a shield of airbags to help protect all occupants. In addition to dual-stage head airbags, there are knee and side airbags for the driver and front
passenger. Second row outer–seat passengers have side airbags, while curtain shield airbags complete the comprehensive protection.
DYNAMICS / ACTIVE SAFETY AND PASSIVE SAFETY
The supreme off-road ability of the LX does not compromise on-road driving composure. Indeed, its advanced electronic traction control technologies, sophisticated
adaptive suspension and permanent all-wheel drive also contribute to agile, yet remarkably comfortable, on-road handling and performance.
ADAPTIVE VARIABLE SUSPENSION (AVS)
A leading–edge technology contributing to both on- and off-road performance, Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) can adjust vehicle height as appropriate. On road,
AVS reduces ride height at higher speeds to improve aerodynamic performance. And at rest, it smoothly lowers by about 150 mm to ease exit and entry.
THREE-POINT SEATBELTS
The third* row centre seat, is specified with a 3-point seat belt, this is
an innovative design solution with the belt retracting fully into the roof
lining when not in use.
ISO-FIX SEAT ANCHORS
LX drivers with small children will appreciate the added security of
ISO-FIX seat mountings. These are used to quickly attach child seats in
a safe and secure fashion.

VSC helps prevent the loss of

cornering quickly or at the onset

selective application of brakes
and/or power reduction.
ULTRA-STRONG CONSTRUCTION
Immense strength and exceptional torsional
rigidity are essential to supreme off-road
performance. And the LX sets new standards
here. Compared to its predecessor, much
higher tensile steel is used and the frame area
is significantly increased. This ultra-strong
construction not only benefits off-road
performance, but also makes the LX an
extremely safe and robust vehicle.
ENERGY ABSORPTION
In developing the LX, Lexus engineers also
sought to enhance the impact absorption rate,
a normally contradictory characteristic of
strength and rigidity. They achieved this
without compromise by implementing an
entirely new concept. The LX can absorb and
disperse the energy of a 5.0 ton impact – a
new standard for a vehicle of this type.
CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAGS
LX airbags are sensor–controlled and inflate
depending on the intensity and direction of
impact. Curtain shield airbags run the entire
length of the side windows to protect
occupants in all three seat rows. They inflate
within milli-seconds of a side impact, or in the
unlikely event of the vehicle rolling over.

4-ZONE CLIMATE CONTROL
There are four independent temperature
control zones: Driver, front passenger, left and
right sides of the second and third* seat rows.
Twin air conditioning units, air vents and

stored on the LX’s SD card and can be updated

BLUETOOTH®
With wireless Bluetooth®, a mobile phone can
be operated remotely in the LX. Calls can be
made or received via the touch-screen, the
steering wheel controls, or by voice command,
while contacts can be viewed on the display

PARKING DISTANCE CONTROL
Activate the parking distance control and a live
video of the area behind the vehicle is displayed
on the touch-screen. For further assistance,
on-screen guidelines illustrate the ideal path to
follow. The display is complemented by audio
warnings.
STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS
Ergonomically positioned steering wheel
controls lets the driver control a variety of the
vehicle’s systems while keeping both hands on
the wheel. There are buttons for audio,
information display, phone, cruise control and
voice recognition.

The larger multi-information display features high-definition graphics in
colour. A wider array of vehicle data can now be accessed, with the driver

The 19-speaker Mark Levinson® Reference
Surround system delivers home-theatre quality
in-vehicle entertainment. It features an AM/FM
tuner, in-dash single slot DVD player and a
maximum of 750 watts of power output.
USB PORT AND AUX SOCKET
A variety of multi-media devices can be
connected, including an auxilliary and USB
port. Headphones can also be plugged in
using the adjacent AUX socket. The LX also
comes standard with a wireless charger that
detects a signal and converts the signal to

INCEPTION DATE OF PLAN
The inception date of the Lexus Distance Plans will
be the same as the vehicle’s warranty inception date.
The same will apply to all demonstration vehicles sold
by a Lexus dealership.

WHAT DOES THE LEXUS DISTANCE
PLAN COVER?
Covered:
• All manufacturer–specified services (normal
schedule) up to 4 years/100 000 km, which
ever occurs first (*1).
WHAT DOES THE LEXUS DISTANCE PLAN
PLUS COVER?
Covered:
• All manufacturer–specified services (normal
schedule) up to 4 years/ 100 000 km,
whichever occurs first (*2).
• Front disc brake pads (limited to 5 sets)
• Rear disc brake pads (limited to 3 sets)
WHAT DOES THE LEXUS DISTANCE PLAN
COMPLETE COVER?
Covered:
• All manufacturer–specified services (normal
schedule) up to 4 years/ 100 000 km
whichever comes first.
• Mechanical components – repaired or replaced
due to normal wear and tear.
WHAT IS NOT COVERED BY THE LEXUS
DISTANCE PLANS?
Not Covered:
• Obtaining fuel
• Engine top-up oil and other lubricants and service
items required between routine servicing of
the vehicle
• Tyres, wheel alignment and wheel balancing
• (*1) Maintenance repairs of wearing items for
Distance Plan (e.g. brakes, clutch, exhaust,
battery, etc.)
• (*2) Maintenance repairs or wearing items
for Distance Plan Plus (e.g. brake discs, brake
callipers, clutch, exhaust, battery, etc.)
• Non-Lexus–approved additives
• Paint / body/ trim repairs
•Accessories
• Unreasonable requests
• Alterations and modifications
• Driver abuse/negligence or unreasonable use
including any form of competition

Insurance–related claims and repairs
Accident damage
Rattles and squeaks
Cleaning of fuel system
Cracked or broken glass
Expenses incurred at non-Lexus dealers
Flood, riot, weather and fire damage
Engine tuning
Repairs or damage as a result of noncompliance with service requirements or
warranty obligations
• Damage incurred through the vehicle having
been driven with insufficient engine lubricants or
coolant
• Any claims arising outside the borders of
South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland or
Botswana
• Items requiring replacement as a result of severe
operating conditions will be for the customer’s
account. The severe operating schedule is not
covered in any of the Distance Plans
