Description: This fall Gloucester County Community Church will be hosting a Trunk or Treat for our families and the families of our community on October 31st from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. This will provide an awesome opportunity to reach people in our neighborhood with the love of Christ by providing a safe family environment for fall fun. Trunk-or-treat is an event where people gather their cars in the church parking lot, open their trunks, or the backs of their vehicles, and decorate them. Then they pass out candy from their trunks. Registration is not required for this event. How Can You Participate: We need people to "host a trunk." You simply open the trunk or the back of your vehicle, decorate it, then pass out candy from your trunk. Decorating your vehicle is a great way to show off your creative skills. Consider hosting a trunk with your COF. Information for Trunk Hosts Take this chance to truly show off your creative style! Feel free to invite as many family members, neighbors and friends to come and participate in this event as you want! There will also be awards for "Most Creative," "Best Witness" and "Pastor's Pick" These awards will be given by a group of independent judges. Decoration Tips: Please avoid anything that would be scary or upsetting to young kids. Themes and costumes should be "friendly”. The first step in decorating for a trunk or treat is to take a good look at your vehicle. Is it a minivan? Then think about dressing it up as a giant whale or a giant pumpkin. If you have a truck, your options are even better. You can set up just about anything in the bed of a truck: an Indian tepee, Noah's ark, a pumpkin patch or even a giant Thomas the Tank Engine. The best way to plan your trunk is to pick a theme. Think of it like dressing yourself in a costume. Ideas: • Bible stories – the more visual the better! Noah’s Ark, Jonah and the Whale, etc. • 50’s, 60’s 70’s 80’s Theme (great if you have a classic car) • Circus – dress as a clown and have balloons and brightly colored decorations. • Zookeeper - have a display of stuffed animals. • Beach or Luau theme. Open up the back of the vehicle, hang some towels and set up a boogie board against the door, set out beach chairs, use an umbrella. • NASCAR Theme - Display all your souvenirs • Harvest Theme • Sports Theme (pick a sport) • Popular Kid's Themes: Sesame Street, Dora the Explorer, Veggie Tales, • Animal Themes - Stuffed animals count. • Movie Themes • Western Themes • Camping Out theme • Christmas (or other holiday) Theme • Gone Fishing Theme • Pirate Theme For more decoration ideas and pictures see: http://trunkortreat.homestead.com/ Trunk Host Guidelines: • • • • • • • • • Host Cars will be allowed to arrive beginning at 5:30 p.m. and MUST be parked by 6:50 p.m. Host Cars may not pack up to leave before the children have cleared out at the end of the event at 8:40 p.m. All decorations must be contained within your own parking space and 1 space to the passenger side of your vehicle No toy weapons such as guns, knives, etc. and no adult masks No open flames, fireworks, flammable liquids, etc. Electric lights and accessories are allowed if powered by generator (We will not provide electricity) Cars must be turned off for the duration of the event Car owners must bring enough candy or treats for approximately 300 children.
