Discussion time per group: 5-10 minutes
Questions to answer during your discussion:

What is the American Dream?

When and where did it start?

What does the dream involve and how has it changed over time?

How does the dream vary for different people/groups?

What are some downsides of the dream?

How does this dream relate to your life and your own dreams?

Remember to support your ideas with lots of specific examples from the songs we
have analyzed, the texts we have read, and the information from the Power
Point.
Discussion Tips:

Most important—make sure you talk! Get your ideas out there! 

Come to the discussion prepared—practice answering each of the questions listed
above.

Ask your group members questions, listen to their answers, and respond with ideas of
your own. (Don’t be afraid to ask for help if you can’t remember a word or two…)

Sentence starters:
