teachers and staff, and parents.
The 11th annual Lauren Avezzie Fun Run at Union School will take place
on Sunday, May 7, 2017. This event is open to all Union School students
and alumni, teachers and staff, and parents.
This event is a way of supporting exercise, having fun while exercising,
showing school spirit, and a way for our family to give back to a community that has been so supportive of us after Lauren’s passing in 2006.
I hope you will join me on May 7th. We expect it to be a wonderful afternoon. Each participant will receive a Lauren Avezzie Fun Run t-shirt, a
Lauren Avezzie Fun Run ribbon or medal, an ice cream treat and a thank
you certificate.
Please see the event format page for all needed information. The registration fee is $25.00 per family. Please complete the registration form and
send it in to school with your family registration fee on or before Friday,
April 21, 2017 . Please note, participants who register after April 21st are
not guaranteed a t -shirt.

Event Format
Participants will enter the school using the kindergarten entrance and will stop at the registration table outside the cafeteria. Please arrive at 12:30 for registration. Participants
will register, and will receive a Lauren Avezzie Fun Run t-shirt along with a registration
card to pin on the front of their Fun Run t-shirt. Participants should wear sneakers and
comfortable shorts. Parents, children, family members, staff and alumni will then proceed
to the gym for a brief program.
Guidelines
Parents must supervise their children for safety and behavior. Your child is your responsibility today. If you have more than one Union School child with you, please keep siblings
together.
All students have been taught , by Mr. Chaves, the format, guidelines, and running course
in physical education class. If you have any questions, please see staff volunteers. They
will be wearing special badges.
Course distance: approximately 1 mile running/walking. The 1 mile course starts in the Union School field., moves to the bus loop, moves in front of the school, moves along the playscape, to the field and to the finish. The field is moved by volunteers. Sorry, no animals
or roller blades please.

When participants finish the run, volunteers will lead them to a table to record their
name. Mr. Chaves will give each child their time next week in school. Please keep your
registration card. Each participant will also be give an ribbon, a certificate or a medal to
remember this special day. A refreshing treat will be served at the event.
Please fill out the information below and return the form/forms and your family registration
fee to the school office or Mr. Chaves no later than Friday, April 21, 2017. (T-shirts are not
guaranteed for registrations received after April 21st.) You are also welcome to e-mail Mr.
Avezzie at [email protected] to let him know you are going to run and to give him
your t-shirt size.
