My name is Carol I am 25 years old and living in Mikese
Morogoro. I was born and raised in Dodoma but I
moved to Morogoro a long time ago. I did my primary
education here in Morogoro and I went up to
standard seven.
I come from a family of three, I leave with my sister
here, my brother is in Arusha and all our parents are
in Dodoma. I am not married but I have a child. I work
as a Secretary here in Mikese.

I have a more than one partner but I don’t sleep with all
of them. I have about 7 partners but each and every
person helps in a different way. The father of my child
is 35 or 37 years old and he is a married man.
Currently I have a partner who helps me with a lot of
things in life. I can say that he loves me because he
does a lot of things for me. I also love him and that is
why we are together up to now. He is 28 years old
and he is a student at Mzumbe University

I always use condom with all my partners. I like using
Salama condoms. I am not particular so I use any
brand for as long as it is Salama. I have been using
Salama for a long time and I have not experienced
anything negative. Both of us discuss about condoms
and we make decision jointly. We are using condoms
because we have not yet planned to have children,
and for now I cannot use other family planning
methods such as pills, implants and injections. We
are also protecting ourselves from diseases.

This is a photo of a shop with a Salama advertisement (previous
slide), this is the place where I prefer to buy Salama condom. I
took a photo of this shop because it is a shop that cares, there
are different brands of condoms Salama tatu bomba, Salama
studs, Familia and Dume. I also took this photo because of the
Salama 3bomba advertisement which is my preference. The
advertisement means that when I want to make love I should
use this condom. This shows that this is the type of
advertisement that concerns me. It concerns me because it is a
condom that protects unexpected pregnancies.

This is a photo of my friend (previous slide). This is Iddi
and Mwanne and as you can see on the background
there is a shop that sells traditional medicine. I took
this photo because the two of them are lovers and
they use Salama condoms. They love each other that
is why they have decided to use Salama condoms to
protect each other, so if you love your partner it is
important that you use Salama condoms

This is a photo of children, they are neighbors (previous
slide). These children are orphans and their parents
died of AIDS. I took this photo because if their
parents had used condoms it means that they would
not have died of HIV/AIDS. Condoms are important in
life and they can save lives. I also took this photo to
show the importance of family planning because
these are so many children for only one person, so it
indicates parents should plan their families by using
condoms.

This is a photo of two friends (previous slide). The one
on the left is Abu and the one on the right is Rama.
They are my neighbours. I took this photo because
they are good users of Salama condom that is why I
took them. You know youth are vulnerable to HIV, but
these ones have decided to protect themselves by
using condoms. They motivate me much to continue
using condoms.

This photo reminds me of the
place where I used to make love
with my partner and I love this
place. I love this place because
they provide condoms in the
rooms so at least you are sure
that you are protected but also it
reduces the bother of having to
go looking for condoms in the
shops.

This is a photo of a condom advertisement (previous slide). I
choose to take this photo because to be honest I like the
advertisement. This advertisement has an important meaning
especially for those who love each other as you can see the way
it is written “Kama kweli unampenda Utamlinda” If you love her
you will protect her that is the message it is sending across to
both males and females. So what I learnt from the advert is that
if I have a partner I have to use condom for protection of both of
us. The advert also means that if you have somebody whom
you don’t trust it will be better if you will use condom that is why
I choose to take this picture.

This is a photo of a car (previous slide). I took this photo
in the morning. I choose to take this photo because I
wish one day I could have a car like this one. It
means if I will own a car like this one I will be in a
good position. I wish I could have a car, sometimes I
think may be if I could have a car like this one all my
problems could end up, as you can see this is a
special car for business so you are sure of earning
something per day.

I work as a secretary as I said earlier but I earn very little
income that cannot help me sustain my life on my own
so my partner also helps me out from time to time
although we are not leaving together. There are so
many challenges that I face in life especially on
relationship issues. I get a lot of temptations which at
times makes you falls in the wrong traps.
My aspiration in life is to have a better life like other
people. I would like to get a house of my own and live
an independent life together with my child. I love my
child and myself very much so I want to work very hard.
