IB Mission Statement
High quality international education for a better world
The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring,
knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create
a better and more peaceful world through intercultural
understanding and respect.
To this end the organization works with schools, governments
and international organizations to develop challenging
programs of international education and rigorous
assessment.
These programs encourage students across the world to
become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who
understand that other people, with their differences, can also
be right.
Committed to International
Education
The IB does not own or manage any schools. Instead, the IBO works
with schools that share the commitment to international education.
These schools:
– play an active and supporting role in the
worldwide community of IB schools
– share their knowledge and experience in the
development of the IB programs
– are committed to the professional
development of teachers and administrators

The global contexts provide the main focus for developing the
connections between the disciplines, so that students will learn
to see knowledge as an interrelated, coherent whole. They are
embedded in the subjects and developed naturally through
them.
