Summer Reading is Killing Me by Jon Scieszka. At the beginning of summer vacation Joe, Sam, and Fred find
themselves trapped inside their summer reading list, involved in a battle between good and evil characters
from well-known children's books.
Fantastic Mr. Fox by Roald Dahl. Three farmers, each one meaner than the other, try all-out warfare to get
rid of the fox and his family.
Hades: Lord of the Dead by George O’Connor. This graphic novel tells the story of the great God of the Underworld and one of the most famous of all Greek myths: Hades' abduction of Persephone and her mother's revenge. Be prepared to see a new side of Persephone in this dynamic adaptation of the story of the creation
of the seasons.
Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer. Read any of the adventures of Artemis Fowl, twelve-year-old genius, and
his friends from the Lower Elements– a secret world of fairies, goblins, centaurs, and dwarves that live underground with magic and advanced technology.
Underland Chronicles by Suzanne Collins. Before there was Katniss and the Hunger Games, there was Gregor
the Overlander! Read any book in the series about eleven-year-old Gregor, his little sister and a quest foretold by ancient prophecy. Their adventures in a strange underground world include an epic battle involving
men, bats, rats, cockroaches, and spiders.
Rick Riordan– read any of the books in the series: The Kane Chronicles, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and
The Heroes of Olympus.
