Camp Iroquois Registration Booklet

REGISTRATION BOOKLET
WHAT IS CAMP IROQUOIS?
Camp Iroquois is a municipal outdoor day camp operated by the Village/Town of Mt. Kisco and the Mt. Kisco
Recreation Commission, held at Leonard Park for children entering grades K – 6 in the fall. We offer a morning only, a
full day camp and an after camp program. Morning Campers have camp from 9:00am – 12:15pm. Full Day Campers
have camp from 9:00am – 3:00pm. The Extended Day Camp Program hours are 3:00pm to 6:00pm.
A TYPICAL DAY AT CAMP: Swimming, arts & crafts, drama, basketball, playground, tennis, sports and games.
Special programs are offered such as puppet shows, a live band, a magic show, etc. Special trips are offered for groups
throughout the summer. Overnights are offered for the older camp groups and a pizza party for the younger camp
groups.
Camp Iroquois is regulated by the Westchester County Department of Health. We strictly
follow all guidelines set forth in the “N.Y.S. Sanitary Health Code”. This means that all camp
registration forms MUST be filled out completely in order to attend summer camp. A copy of
the “Code” is available for viewing online at: www.westchestergov.com/health/camps.htm.
GENERAL CAMP INFORMATION:
1. All campers MUST bring a bathing suit and a towel for swimming. Campers may be excused from swimming if they
have a note from their parent or guardian. Swimming is a daily activity and we strongly encourage parents and campers
to work together with swim instructors to have full daily participation. All campers have their swim abilities assessed on
the first day of camp to determine swim level.
2. All children arriving late or leaving early MUST report to the camp office first. If a camper is leaving with someone
other than their parent or guardian, a note MUST be provided to the camp office.
3. Children should be dressed in appropriate clothing for camp (sneakers, socks, play clothes etc.). ALL CAMPERS
MUST WEAR SNEAKERS EVERYDAY. ALL clothing should be labeled with your child’s name. Campers will
receive a Camp Iroquois T-Shirt, which MUST be worn on all trip days.
4. The Mount Kisco Recreation Commission is not responsible for any items left, lost or stolen. Items lost/left at camp
are placed in the Lost and Found Box at the camp office. This bin will be emptied and donated to local charities upon
the completion of camp.
5. If your child becomes ill with a communicable disease, please notify the camp office as soon as possible. If your
child is sick, it is in the best interest for all not to send him/her to camp while they are ill.
6. There is an additional charge for Camp Outs, Special Trips and the Pizza Party. If your child does not attend a trip,
there is no camp for him/her that day. We take all of our staff members on trips.
7. THE MEDICAL/REGISTRATION FORM MUST BE FULLY COMPLETED IN ORDER TO REGISTER.
(This is a Westchester County Health Code which our camp must abide by in order to obtain a camp permit.)
8. Children MUST have a season pool pass for Memorial Pool in order to enroll in Camp Iroquois.
9. Campers should bring a snack with them each day. Please pack it separately from their lunch.
10. Your child may register for other sports camps offered by the Mt. Kisco Recreation Commission and still participate
in Camp Iroquois. However, it is your responsibility to inform us in writing that your child will need to be escorted over
to our camp site after their sports programs have concluded.
11. Campers may register for either half day camp (9:00am – 12:15pm) or full day camp (9:00am – 3:00pm) and/or
Extended Day Camp (3:00pm – 6:00pm).
12. You should receive a “Welcome Packet” in the mail 2 weeks prior to the beginning of camp. This will include
specific camp information as well as group assignments. If you do not receive it, please contact us as soon as possible.
13. We reserve the right to remove any camper, from this program, who is having behavior
problems and will do so without a refund.

SPECIAL EVENT PERMISSION SLIP AGREEMENT
Throughout the camp season we offer several “Special Events” that require
additional fees for participation. These fees are to be paid during the camp season.
We will distribute the actual permission slips approximately 2 weeks prior to the
special event. Please note that permission slips MUST be signed and returned
whether your child is participating or not.
We make every effort to inform you of upcoming events via: permission slips
(handed out 2 times), newsletters and our camp calendar. If you see on your
calendar that a deadline is coming up and you did not receive a permission slip,
please let us know so we can hand deliver a copy to you before the cut off time.
We cannot and will not accept any late permission slips and/or monies. Please
note the closing dates for registration of special events listed on each permission
slip. We have to have an exact number of participants to notify the bus company or
to purchase materials and supplies. For your convenience we try to make the
deadlines as late as possible. We just ask for your cooperation and understanding.
Also, note that if your child does not attend a camp out there is no camp for them the
following day. If your child does not attend a trip there is no camp for them that day.
Please sign the following and turn it at the time of
registration to verify that you read this section. Thanks !

Camp Iroquois – Special Event Permission Slip Agreement
I have read the information above and understand that payment and permission must be
turned in by the deadlines indicated on each flyer. I understand that if my child does not
bring home a permission slip for a special event before the deadline, that I am responsible
for obtaining a copy. I also understand that ALL permission slips must be signed and
returned regardless of whether my child is participating or not. I understand that if my child
is not attending a trip, there is no camp for them that day and if they do not attend a
campout there is no camp for them the next day.
