The Mission of Christ, the Good Shepherd Parish is to celebrate the Sacraments,
share our heritage and traditions, and support one another in living and sharing our faith in this community and
throughout the world.
Third Sunday of Lent
February 28, 2016
“I AM”
Kindness and mercy are what the enslaved people of Israel needed, and they came in the form of deliverance.
They came through a leader, Moses, who was once plucked from the Nile River and was now herding his father-inlaw’s sheep in the land of Goshen. The bush that burned but was not consumed shows us that God is inexhaustible
mystery.
Moses’ awe and deference are mixed with a touching conversational tone as he seeks to learn God’s name. And
God sweetly responds. The somewhat abstract “I AM” distinguishes the God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob from
the minor gods in the territory who “are not.” They are helpless, powerless, and useless. Moses is to step out into an
amazing future, and God will be there with outstretched arm. Just go and see, God seems to say.

2• CHRIST, THE GOOD SHEPHERD PARISH, CAMPBELL, OHIO
Pastor’s
Corner
Our Lenten Mission continues this week. I am
glad that we are able to highlight the good work
that we are doing individually and as a parish. I
pray that as we reflect on the works of mercy that
we may be an even greater source of mercy for
others.
This Wednesday parishes across the Diocese will
leave the Confessional light on and priests will be
available from 7-8:30pm. Help me encourage
those who have been away from the Sacrament of
Reconciliation to come and celebrate God’s
welcoming and forgiveness.
For those with maintenance skills: I once again
invite you to let me know in what way you can
help the parish.
I thank those who have already responded about
what this parish means to them. And, I look
forward to many more responses. What does
Christ the Good Shepherd Parish mean to you?
Finally, please, continue to pray for the RCIA
candidates from our parish. And, help me
welcome and include them!
God bless you,
Fr. Conoboy
ayudame a darles la bienvenida y a incluirlos!
Que Dios te bendiga,
Padre Conoboy

3RD SUNDAY OF LENT - FEBRUARY 28, 2016 • 5
STEWARDSHIP OF TREASURE
February 28, 2016 -- 3rd Sunday of Lent
“He said to the gardener, ‘For three years now I
have come in search of fruit on this fig tree but
have found none.’” (Luke 13:7)
Are you like the barren fig tree? How will you
respond when God asks you what you have done
with all the gifts He has given you? Remember, not
only are we called to be generous, we are called to
develop and nurture our gifts and return with
increase.
Dijo entonces al viñador: «Mira, hace tres años que
vengo a buscar higos en esta higuera, pero nunca
encuentro nada. (Lucas 13:7)
¿Eres tu como la higuera estéril? ¿Cómo
responderás cuando Dios te pregunte que has hecho
con los dones que Él te ha dado? Recuerda, no
solamente hemos sido llamados a ser generosos,
somos llamados a desarrollar y cuidar nuestros
dones y a devolverlos aumentados.

6• CHRIST, THE GOOD SHEPHERD PARISH, CAMPBELL, OHIO
Catholic Exponent
In today’s Gospel from Luke, some people ask Jesus
about events that had transpired in their world--cruelty
by Pontius Pilate to some of the Galileans and the
death of 18 people, which occurred when a tower fell at
Siloam. Jesus responded by putting these earthly events
into the context of the Gospel and calling for
repentance. If you’re looking for a Gospel perspective
on the news of this world--right here in our diocese,
nationally and around the globe--theCatholic
Exponent, your diocesan newspaper offers news,
commentary, and Scripture reflection to help you make
