SAT Preparation Program for Collingwood School Preparing for the March 5th SAT Academic Approach has partnered with Collingwood School to offer an SAT preparation program to its students planning to take the March 5th, 2016 SAT exam. Because we understand and appreciate your students’ demanding academic and co-curricular commitments, we have conveniently scheduled 24 hours of instruction on Saturdays and Sundays from 9am to 1pm on Collingwood’s campus. A diagnostic exam and two practice exams will also be administered on three Saturdays from 9am to 12:30pm. Please see the syllabus on page two for lesson information and exact class and test dates. Each student who signs up for a course will receive the following: Highly-Customized Classroom Instruction Collingwood School’s choice to partner with Academic Approach is based on the shared philosophy that the most efficient and effective approach to meeting individual student’s needs is through highly-customized classroom instruction. Each Academic Approach course begins with a diagnostic test, from which the data is used to drive and tailor classroom instruction. Subsequent diagnostic tests enable instructors to measure student progress and realign instruction according to the most prevalent and immediate test preparation needs of the entire class, as determined by a score-report analysis. Expert Instructors Academic Approach believes test preparation is an opportunity to engage students in real learning. Academic Approach instructors are warm and supportive teaching professionals who know how to motivate and engage students while conducting an effective classroom experience that improves scores, is academically enriching, and, just as importantly, is fun. Homework To make the most of this course, homework will be assigned after each lesson with the expectation that students will complete it for the following weekend course. Completing the homework allows students the opportunity to practice applying on their own the skills and methods learned in the course and to ask relevant questions in the next session. Communication and Support Collingwood School’s University Guidance staff and Academic Approach understand and appreciate that in order for a program to succeed parents often require information and guidance. Academic Approach directors will supervise and ensure the high quality of all programs and will alert you to absences, provide access to online score reports, and support your needs along the way. 766 Madison Avenue • 5th Floor • New York, NY 10065 • 212.348.4172 www.academicapproach.com Tests are standardized.
