She had been abandoned and was taken into rescue 7-30-10. On her 1st vet visit she weighed 23 pounds and was estimated to be about 2 years old. Maggie was spayed, vaccinated, and tested heartworm negative on 8-2310. It is hard to believe in 5 short weeks with a lot of TLC, Maggie now weighs 45 pounds. She is very loving and docile. She has survived all odds against her to become what she is now. She walks well on a leash and comes when called. We already had a young yorkie, and we thought it would be good for him to have a playmate. We began looking at puppies online, but our hearts were leading us toward adopting one of the local shelter dogs we saw on www. petfinder.com. My husband was the one to bring Dori, our newest yorkie baby, home from the Texarkana Animal Shelter. Adopting Dori was the best decision we could have made. She is full of love and energy and is a great fit for all of us! (This dog is not up for adoption, it is a stock photo.) -Miranda Johnson, ALT Magazine www.alt-mag.com 85
