Principal’s Message
Cheques to Seaview
The closing of October saw the end of
another busy month at Seaview. Halloween
brought out some great costumes and our
costume parade was a lot of fun for all
involved.
The school participated in the Great BC
Shakeout earthquake drill. If you still want
to submit a comfort kit for your child, drop
it off at the office and it will be put in the
kiosk.
Our school recognized Remembrance Day on
November 10th with a grade 7 student led
assembly. Ryan, Ashtyn, Mikayla, Hailey,
Gaige, and Nya did an admirable job of
sharing the message of the importance of
this day. Thank you to Mr. Weighill’s class
for performing “In Flanders Field,” division 2
students Jakob, Tristan, and Gabby that
recited “Why Remembrance,” and division 1
students Jayla and Annabelle who read thank
you letters to veterans. We are very proud
of their efforts. We thank Comrade Vicki
Jones for attending.
Thank you to all of the parent volunteers in
our school since the start of the year. We
appreciate the time you provide our school.
Our PAC Halloween Family Dance was a great
success. Once again there were some amazing
costumes!
Thank you to all of those families that were
able to participate in the Christmas Shoe
Box Project. Seaview is submitting 50 boxes
to help those in need and make a difference
for them during the holiday season.
We are looking forward to a great finish to
November and start to December. Thanks
for continuing to support both your own
child(ren) and the larger Seaview community.
When paying for various items, events, etc.
at Seaview, please make cheques payable to
School District #68
Sincerely,
David Cooper

Keep up the great House spirit especially on
the spirit days!
Seaview Storm Alerts
Following are the names of
some of our wonderful Seaview
Students who had their names
drawn at our Storm Alert
Assembly.
These students received a fancy smancy
house team pencil and a point for their house
team. Their name along with all the other
students receiving a storm alert will be
entered into a prize draw for later in the
year.
Our recent storm alert draw winners were:
Div. 1: Jayla D (Avalanche) & Jack (Solar Storm)
Div. 2: Olivia T (Tsunami) & Tristen C (Solar Storm)
Div. 3: Jordon (Tsunami) & Annika L (Tsunami)

The cross-country team competed in their

were held on November 2nd. Seaview finished
4th overall in small school competition. The
team was coached by Mrs. Sertic and Mrs.
Slater.
Volleyball season begins next week. There
are two teams. Our girls team is coached by
Mr. Biggs and the boys is coached by Mr.
Cooper. Good luck to our teams.
New Staff Members
A big welcome back goes out to: Mrs.
Maelene Norris who will be returning to us on
November 28th as an education assistant.
We also want to thank Ms. Fredericks for
being with us since last November and wish
her well on her next assignment.
Inclement Weather
As we reach the end of November we have
seen some of the cool wet
weather we would expect in
the Fall. This leads students
to ask the question “Is it an
inside day?” The answer on
most days is no. Students will
be going outside to play at recess
and lunch unless it is raining heavily. We
thank you for ensuring your child comes to
school with appropriate rain and cool weather
clothing.
At Seaview we believe in the
importance of fresh air and outside play for
all students and appreciate your assistance in
this regard.
Div. 7: Sophie (Solar Storm) & Kiona (Solar Storm)
Lower Parking Lot
Div. 8: Kamea F (Avalanche) & Kenneth B (Tsunami)
Pheonix S (Tsunami)
Our
community
fire
department has brought it to
our attention that there are
a number of cars being
parked in front of the fire
hydrant in the lower parking lot. Please make
sure that you are not blocking the fire
hydrant. Doing so could create a real danger
in the event of an emergency.
Div. 9: Isla (Solar Storm) & Maisy (Fire Storm)
Div. 10: Emma (Solar Storm) & Chase (Fire Storm)
Thanks to all the students who are busy
making Seaview such a great place to be!.
School Sports
Christmas Concert
The Seaview athletes are busy again. Our
two football teams that are mix of grade 5, 6
& 7 students recently wrapped up their
seasons. The girl’s team is coached by Mrs.
Cherie Alyward and sponsored by Mrs.
Trebett. The boy’s team is coached by Mr.
Biggs.
Staff and students have started preparing
for the school concert on Tuesday,
December 6 at 1:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Since there is limited seating in the gym, we
encourage as many parents as possible to
attend the afternoon performance and to
only attend one of the shows. Thank you for
your support in helping us with this. For the
evening performance, all students are
requested to be in their classrooms by 6:10
p.m. Doors to the school will be opened at

This is a fun challenge that
also provides support to local families during
the holiday season. The Fire Department

behalf of the class that brings in the most
items nonperishable food items.
Thank you to everyone for helping us spread
the Christmas cheer.
