An Teaghlach Naofa
Our Lady brought a message of peace, and
reparation for sin, encouraging devotion to Her
Immaculate Heart, the daily recitation of the
rosary and to make sacrifices for the conversion of
sinners and the salvation of souls.
Our Lady of Fatima entrusted her message for the
salvation of souls to the three little shepherds. In
the words of Pope John Paul, “May the message of
their lives live on forever to light humanity’s way!”.
The Vigil
We wish to thank The Mill Hill Missionaries of
St. Mary’s, for hosting this prayer vigil in honour
of Our Lady of Fatima. Thanks also to our
celebrant Fr. Don Kettle and to Olive Kayes for
leading us in song. Please join in singing of the
hymns. In the words of St. John Paul, “When a
congregation sings together in one voice, there is
a vibrant joy created in the soul”.
Welcome to this evening of prayer and song in St.
Mary’s Church, Chapel Lane, the oldest catholic
church in Belfast. We come together to honour
Our Lady of Fatima, on this, the 99th anniversary
of The Miracle of The Sun, and to pray for the
reign of The Immaculate Heart of Mary in
our beloved nation and in the whole world.
The Blessed Virgin Mary (The Lady of The
Rosary) appeared to three little shepherd children
– Lucia, Bl. Jacinta and Bl. Francisco, in Fatima,
Portugal, on the 13th May 1917 and continued to
appear on the 13th of each month until October
1917, when 70,000 people witnessed The Miracle
Of The Sun.
Prayer petitions may be left in the basket on the
altar of Our Lady; these will be brought to the
Cova Da Iria in Fatima next week. We will also
have a “Blessing of The Roses” and each person
present may take a single rose home for someone
who is sick.

Entrance Hymn
Holy God We Praise Thy Name
Holy God, we praise Thy name;
Lord of all, we bow before Thee;
all on earth Thy sceptre claim;
all in heaven above adore Thee.
Infinite Thy vast domain;
everlasting is Thy reign.
Hark the glad celestial hymn
angel choirs above are raising;
cherubim and seraphim,
in unceasing chorus praising,
fill the heavens with sweet accord:
Holy, Holy, Holy Lord.
Holy Father, Holy Son,
Holy Spirit: three we name Thee,
though in essence only one;
undivided God we claim Thee,
and adoring bend the knee
while we own the mystery.

LITURGY OF THE WORD
First Reading
A reading from the prophet Isaiah
61:9-11
Their race will be famous throughout the nations,
their descendants throughout the peoples.
All who see them will admit
That they are a race whom the Lord has blessed.
I exult for joy in the Lord,
My soul rejoices in my God,
For He has clothed me in the garments of
salvation, He has wrapped me in the cloak of
integrity, like a bridegroom wearing his wreath,
like a bride adorned in her jewels, for as the earth
makes fresh things grow, as a garden makes seeds
spring up, so will the Lord make integrity and
praise spring up in the sight of the nations.
The Word of The Lord
Responsorial Psalm
My heart exults in the Lord my
Saviour
My heart exults in the Lord,
I find my strength in my God;
My mouth laughs at my enemies
As I rejoice in your saving help.
The bows of the mighty are broken,
But the weak are clothed with strength
Those with plenty must labour for bread,
But the hungry need work no more.
The childless wife has children now
But the fruitful wife bears no more.
It is the Lord who gives life and death
He brings men to the grave and back;
It is the Lord who gives poverty and riches,
He brings men low and raises them on high.
He lifts up the lowly from the dust,
From the dungheap he raises the poor
To set them in the company of princes,
To give them a glorious throne.
Gospel Acclamation
Alleluia, Alleluia
Blessed is the Virgin Mary
Who treasured the Word of God,
And pondered it in her heart.
Alleluia
Gospel
A reading from the Holy Gospel
according to Luke 2:41-51
Every year, the parents of Jesus used to go to
Jerusalem for the feast of the Passover.
When he was twelve years old, they went up for
the feast as usual. When they were on their way
home, after the feast, the boy Jesus, stayed behind
in Jerusalem without his parents knowing it.
They assumed he was with the caravan and it was
only after a day’s journey that they went to look
for him among their relations and acquaintances.
When they failed to find him they went back to
Jerusalem looking for him everywhere.
Three days later, they found Him in the temple,
sitting among the doctors, listening to them and
asking them questions; and all those who heard
Him were astounded at His intelligence and
replies. They were overcome when they saw Him,
and His mother said to Him, “My child, why have
you done this to us? See how worried your father
and I have been, looking for you”. “Why were you
looking for me?”, He replied, “Did you not know
that I must be busy about My Father’s affairs?”
But they did not understand what He meant.
He then went down with them to Nazareth and
lived under their authority. His mother stored up
all these things in her heart.

Offertory Hymn
Gifts of Bread and Wine
Gifts of bread and wine, gifts we’ve offered
Fruits of labour, fruits of love
Taken, offered, sanctified
Blessed and broken; words of one Who died.
Take My body, take My saving blood.
Gifts of bread and wine, Christ our Lord.
Christ our Saviour, living presence here
As He promised, while on earth
I am with you, for all time
I am with you in this bread and wine.
Through the Father, with the Spirit
One in union with the Son
For God’s people, joined in prayer
Faith is strengthened, by the food we share.

Communion Hymns
Be Still For The Presence of The Lord
Be still for the presence of the Lord
The Holy One is here,
Come bow before Him now
With reverence and fear,
In Him no sin is found,
We stand on holy ground,
Be still for the presence of the Lord,
The Holy One is here.
Be still for the glory of the Lord
Is shining all around,
He burns with holy fire
With splendour He is crowned,
How awesome is the sight,
Our radiant King of light,
Be still for the glory of the Lord
Is shining all around.
Be still for the power of the Lord
Is moving in this place,
He comes to cleanse and heal
To minister His grace,
No work too hard for Him,
In faith receive from Him,
Be still for the power of the Lord
Is moving in this place.
Here I Am Lord
I, the Lord of sea and sky,
I have heard My people cry.
All who dwell in dark and sin,
My hand will save.
I who made the stars of night,
I will make their darkness bright.
Who will bear My light to them?
Whom shall I send?
Here I am Lord, Is it I Lord?
I have heard You calling in the night.
I will go Lord, if You lead me.
I will hold Your people in my heart.
I, the Lord of snow and rain,
I have born my peoples pain.
I have wept for love of them, they turn away.
I will break their hearts of stone,
Give them hearts for love alone.
I will speak My word to them,
Whom shall I send?
I, the Lord of wind and flame,
I will tend the poor and lame.
I will set a feast for them,
My hand will save
Finest bread I will provide,
Till their hearts be satisfied.
I will give My life to them,
Whom shall I send?
Communion Antiphon
Mary treasured all these words,
Reflecting on them in her heart.
Prayer after Communion
Having been made partakers
of eternal redemption,
we pray, O Lord,
that we, who commemorate
the Mother of your Son,
may glory in the fullness of your grace
and experience its continued
increase for our salvation,
Through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Recessional Hymn
Our Lady of Fatima, Hail
O Come to the throne of grace,
O Come to the heart most pure,
To Mary our hope and our life
In whom salvation is sure.
O Lady of Fatima, hail!
Immaculate Mother of Grace
O pray for us , help us today,
Thou hope for the human race.
Immaculate Heart, we kneel
To consecrate all to thee,
The past, its pain and joy,
The future, all it may be.
The sun at Thy royal word
Spun round like a splendid toy
Rose petals showering down
Proclaimed thee cause of our joy.
The Rosary, white and gold,
We take from thy Virgin hand;
A pledge of the power of God
To heal and strengthen our land.
O Mother of Sorrows, hail!
We mourn for our evil done;
O soften our selfish hearts,
And lead us back to thy Son.
O Mother of priests in need,
For thine assistance we pray;
Thy graces flow: sweet the seed
Of Saints, thy Son to obey.
O Mother of all mankind,
Lead Russia back home again,
That over a peaceful world
Thy heart may graciously reign.

Ave Maria of Fatima
The thirteenth of May, in the Cova Da Iria
Appeared oh so brilliant, The Virgin Maria.
Ave Ave Ave Maria, Ave Ave Ave Maria
The Virgin Maria, encircled with light,
Our own dearest mother, and heaven’ s delight.
To three little shepherds, Our Lady appeared,
The light of her grace, to her Son souls endeared.
With war and its evils, the whole world was
seething, and countless of thousands, were
mourning and weeping.
To save all poor souls who had wandered astray,
With sweet words of comfort, she asked us to
pray.
By honouring Mary and loving Her Son,
The peace of the world, will most surely be won.
8.45 p.m. Act of Reparation
to The Immaculate Heart of
Mary
Most Holy Virgin, and our beloved Mother,
we listen with grief to the complaints of thy
Immaculate Heart, surrounded with thorns
which ungrateful men place therein at every
moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude.
Moved by the ardent desire of loving thee as
our Mother and of promoting true devotion
to thy Immaculate Heart, we prostrate
ourselves at thy feet to prove the sorrow we
feel for the grief that men cause thee and to
atone by means of our prayers and sacrifices
for the offences with which men return thy
tender love. Obtain for them and for us the
pardon of so many sins. A word from thee
will obtain the grace and forgiveness for us all.
Hasten O Lady, the conversion of sinners, that
they may love Jesus and cease to offend God,
already so much offended, and thus avoid
eternal punishment. Turn Thine eyes of mercy
toward us so that henceforth we may love God
with all our hearts while on earth and enjoy
Him forever in heaven. Amen
8.45 p.m. Act of Consecration
to The Immaculate Heart of
Mary
O Mary, Virgin most powerful and Mother of
mercy,
Queen of heaven and refuge of sinners,
We consecrate ourselves to your Immaculate
Heart,
We consecrate to you our very being and our
whole life,
All that we have, all that we love, all that we
are.
We give you our bodies, hearts and souls
Our homes, families, parish and country.
We desire that everything in and around us
may belong to you
And share in the benefits of your motherly
protection.
In order that this act of consecration may
be truly efficacious and lasting, we today
renew the promises we made at Baptism
and Confirmation. We pledge that we will
courageously and unceasingly profess the
truths of our holy faith and live as befits
Catholics who are duly submissive to the
direction of the Pope and the Bishops who are
in communion with him.
We pledge ourselves to keep the
commandments of God and the Church, in
particular, to keep holy The Lord’s Day. We
also pledge ourselves to make the practices of
the Christian religion, especially the frequent
and regular reception of the consoling
Sacrament of Reconciliation and Holy
Communion an integral part of our lives.
Finally we promise you, O glorious Mother
of God and loving Mother of all people,
to dedicate ourselves with all our hearts to
the service of devotion to you. Through the
sovereignty of your Immaculate Heart, may
we thus hasten and assure the coming of the
kingdom of the Sacred Heart of your adorable
Son in your own hearts as well as those of
all people, in our own parish and country as
well as in the whole world, on earth as it is in
heaven. Amen.

The Angel’s Prayer
Given to the children by the Angel in October 1916, when he
appeared to them with a chalice and a host; drops of blood
fell from the host, suspended in the air, into the chalice.
O most Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy
Spirit, I adore Thee profoundly. I offer Thee the
most Precious Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of
Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the
world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges,
and indifference by which He is offended. By the
infinite merits of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and
the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg the
conversion of poor sinners.
Eucharistic Prayer
Prayed by the children, during the first
apparition of Our Lady, 13th May 1917.
Most Holy Trinity, I adore You! My God, my God,
I love You in the Most Blessed Sacrament. (x3)
As we leave St. Mary’s today
As we go home from St. St Mary’s tonight, let us
do as Our Lady asks and continue to pray the
rosary every day and make daily sacrifices for the
salvation of souls. We ask Jesus, Mary and Joseph
to watch over us and protect us and our families.
And we beseech the prayers of St. John Paul, and
the little shepherds of Fatima, for a renewal of
faith across our country.
Let us encourage people back to the sacrament
of confession in this Jubilee Year of Mercy. And
let us fulfil St. John Paul’s wish on leaving our
shores, and make our homes places of daily
family prayer.

We hope you enjoyed the vigil. Thank you for
coming, and safe home.
