CO 13/0149 LGA -2013/14 Annual Budget Community Aquatic Swimming Facility Strategy Endorsement of Community Aquatic Swimming Facility Strategy Moved: Councillor Starke Seconded: Councillor Patterson That Council endorses the Community Aquatic Swimming Facility Strategy as tabled and agrees with the findings of the Swimming Facilities Community Reference Group that an indoor Aquatic Facility in Port Lincoln is a necessary Community Asset for our regional population and That if designed, constructed, operated and funded appropriately it should be a significant asset for the future use of the community. CO 13/0151 Heritage Trail Logo Adoption of Heritage Trail Logo Moved: Councillor Papazoglov Seconded: Councillor Catt That Council engage Woof Media to refine “Concept 3” as presented for the Heritage Trail and that this logo then be used on all signage and symbolism along the Heritage Trail. CO 13/0152 19 August 2013 Community Facility Leases Common Seal – Endorsement of Community Facility Leases for LEP Baseball League, Tasman Cricket Club, Port Lincoln Calisthenics Club and Greening Australia Moved: Councillor Catt Seconded: Councillor Hartley That pursuant to Local Government Act, 1999 Section 202 and the City of Port Lincoln Community Land Management Plans, the council authorise the Mayor and Chief Executive Officer to negotiate lease deeds for the use of community land, and to sign and affix the Council Seal to the relevant documentation for the following community groups: 1. Lower Eyre Peninsula Baseball League Inc for Portion of the land A9792 comprised in Certificate of Title Volume 5709 Folio 805 being the area marked on the plan as Annexure A in the lease, including a Building Premises being utilised as Clubrooms, baseball diamond and backstop area and lighting for a five year term commencing 1st July 2013 to 30th June 2018 2. CO 13/0154 Overnight Camping Permits for Recreational Vehicles Signature Homes (DA 931/C017/07) Community Title Land Division 931/C017/07 – Signature Homes Moved: Councillor Starke Seconded: Councillor Hartley That Council endorse the Chief Executive Officer to negotiate a suitable agreement with Signature Homes in relation to development application DA 931/C017/07, to waive all or a portion of the required open space fund contribution in lieu of undertaking civil construction works and/or reducing the number of allotments to provide a central recreational reserve for the residents of the community title project. TABLED PUBLICATIONS AND CIRCULARS 16.1. 17. 19 August 2013 Regional Development Australia, Whyalla and Eyre Peninsula – Business Plan 2013-14 URGENT BUSINESS WITHOUT NOTICE 17.1. Councillor Rogers Councillor Rogers shared news that the University of South Australia are launching a five year strategy in which two regional centres will be selected to build two new campuses. Councillor Rogers stated his interest in flagging Port Lincoln as a potential location. 17.2. Councillor Bascombe Councillor Bascombe was contacted by Mrs Woolnough requesting an update on the construction of the proposed toilet block in the Coles Carpark. Mr Melzner advised that the property transfer papers have been processed and that and correspondence has been forwarded to the Sarin Group Property Board seeking a response to Council’s request to erect a temporary toilet facility in their carpark. No response has been received to date. Councillor Bascombe enquired about the progress of investigating a method to reduce the electricity demand charge for Ravendale Sporting Complex. Mr Melzner advised that a consultant from Secon is investigating the possibility of installing a switch to avoid the lights being utilised at the peak demand time over the summer months and will report back to Council on progress with this investigation.
