Endorsement of Community Aquatic Swimming Facility Strategy

tabled and agrees with the findings of the Swimming Facilities Community
Reference Group that an indoor Aquatic Facility in Port Lincoln is a necessary

That if designed, constructed, operated and funded appropriately it should be a
significant asset for the future use of the community.

Community Facility Leases
Common Seal – Endorsement of Community Facility Leases for LEP Baseball
League, Tasman Cricket Club, Port Lincoln Calisthenics Club and Greening

That pursuant to Local Government Act, 1999 Section 202 and the City of Port
Lincoln Community Land Management Plans, the council authorise the Mayor
and Chief Executive Officer to negotiate lease deeds for the use of community
land, and to sign and affix the Council Seal to the relevant documentation for the
following community groups:
1. Lower Eyre Peninsula Baseball League Inc for Portion of the land A9792
comprised in Certificate of Title Volume 5709 Folio 805 being the area
marked on the plan as Annexure A in the lease, including a Building
Premises being utilised as Clubrooms, baseball diamond and backstop
area and lighting for a five year term commencing 1st July 2013 to 30th
June 2018
2. Shields United Port Lincoln Soccer and Sporting Club Inc for Sporting
Clubrooms on a portion of the land A9727 comprised in Certificate of
Title Volume 6018 Folio 141 being the area marked in the plan as
Annexure A in the lease for a term commencing 1st July 2013 to 31st
December 2015 in line with the lease for Kirton Oval
3. Tasman Cricket Club Inc for the Ravendale cricket net area a portion of
the land A2307 as comprised in Certificate of Title Volume 5709 Folio 805
being the area marked in the plan as Annexure A in the lease for a term
commencing 1st August 2013 to 30th June 2018
4. Port Lincoln Calisthenics Club Inc for the area incorporating the
Clubroom and storage areas on Stevenson Street A10621 a portion of the
Crown Land Piece 301 in Deposited plan 77953 Hundred of Lincoln,
comprised in Certificate of Title Volume 6018 folio 141 PT SEC 525, Port
Lincoln being the area marked in the plan as Annexure A in the lease for
a term commencing 1st July 2013 to 30th June 2018
5. Greening Australia for building infrastructure on the portion of the land
A9730 comprised in PT PCE 302 Certificate of Title Volume 6018 Folio

of the community title project.

Regional Development Australia, Whyalla and Eyre Peninsula – Business Plan 2013-14
URGENT BUSINESS WITHOUT NOTICE
17.1.
Councillor Rogers
Councillor Rogers shared news that the University of South Australia are launching a five year
strategy in which two regional centres will be selected to build two new campuses.
Councillor Rogers stated his interest in flagging Port Lincoln as a potential location.
17.2.
Councillor Bascombe
Councillor Bascombe was contacted by Mrs Woolnough requesting an update on the
construction of the proposed toilet block in the Coles Carpark. Mr Melzner advised that the
property transfer papers have been processed and that and correspondence has been
forwarded to the Sarin Group Property Board seeking a response to Council’s request to
erect a temporary toilet facility in their carpark. No response has been received to date.
Councillor Bascombe enquired about the progress of investigating a method to reduce the
electricity demand charge for Ravendale Sporting Complex. Mr Melzner advised that a
consultant from Secon is investigating the possibility of installing a switch to avoid the lights
being utilised at the peak demand time over the summer months and will report back to
Council on progress with this investigation.
