Talofa lava, Malo e lelei, Ni sa bula vinaka, Fakaalofa lahi atu, Talofa ni, Kia ora, Hujambo & greetings, On Friday we had a great athletics day. It was wonderful seeing so many parents here and joining in with the activities. Thank you for enjoying the day with us. Those ice blocks were really needed at lunchtime. Room 13 is nearly ready for painting in the holidays. The room is going to be available for the community to use in a variety of ways. We are holding a meeting Thursday 10th April at 6.30pm in the staff room for parents. One of the options is to have morning playgroup sessions available once or twice a week. Lots of toys have already been donated. Helen Tariau, along with several of our parents will co-ordinate this playgroup. I would like to thank Marie and Ruth for running the coffee mornings each Monday and Wednesday. They have volunteered their time and yummy food. Thank you for all the effort you put in to making this a great meeting place, for parents to mix, relax and chat. We have been learning to use pictures as starters to story writing. Room 11 students were shown the picture below, then as a class we came up with ideas about the picture to help us write our story. Here are some stories that came from this experience. A Mandog – by Angelina Lapa There was a man who turned in to a dog. He came from a cave. He went to Africa to go to the beach but he thought it was boring. So he went to an Australian beach. When he went to Australia he got struck by moonlight. This is how he turned into a Mandog. He looked weird when he turned into a Mandog. He came from Jupiter. Dangerous eating Mandog – by Harris Lee The Mandog was on Jupiter flying through space towards Earth but landed in Africa on the beach. He was pretending that he was a lifeguard. Along the way he saw dogs for the first time. He was crying happiness and people were laughing at him. He was sad and went to Krypton and ran into his house. He went out and the sun struck him. He turned into a person. The funny man – by Crichton Fuifui Once upon a time there was a guy dog who climbed the biggest mountain where the rainbow ended. There was a bowl with rainbow colours and there was a big rock. Mandog – by Matua Elbourne-Fleming An alien Mandog on a spaceship landed on a planet called Earth. He went to Earth because he has never been to Earth. He went to explore Earth. When he got there he landed in Africa. When he landed in Africa he fell out of his spaceship and landed on an Elephant. When he found his spaceship he hopped in it and went to Australia and became a lifeguard.
