Activity 2: Summary
Part B
I chose to use both Meta Search Engines, Bing and ixquick, for both question ‘i and ii And for question iii,
I chose to use both Universal Meta Search and Discovery Engine, Polymeta.Com and Yahoo Advanced
Web Search, Search.yahoo.com regarding Part A. I strongly agree that your search tools used should go
well in hand with your search techniques also to make it easier and faster.
It was because some Meta search engines use different criteria to construct a relevancy rating of each
search results and will present the results in that order .Such as; the way I constructed my search terms
for the title it was given for my search on both question ‘i - “positive relationship between physical activity
and academic performance” and ii “governmental website that presents empirical evidence of relationship
between sports and academic achievement” and including iii “http://www.britannica.com/tower of hanoi
educational game.”
The results retrieved by these engines were relevant to my search on a single simultaneous quick search.
The ranking can be based on how you conduct of your search terms used. Including the title, URL, first
heading, or the number of times search terms appear on the page as per my comparison comment
followed by of my every search using the two types of Meta Search Engines on both ‘I and ii.
That is the search terms appearing early on the page and or search terms appearing close together. The
sources are always broad but it’s good to view each headings that you can tell it relates to your search,
this would also help you narrow down on your search is to read what is to select from the total sources on
displayed as well.
