Neuberger Berman Taiwan Limited (“NB Taiwan SICE”) was established in 2013 as a Securities Investment Consulting Enterprise (“SICE”) and employs 11 staff. It is also a master agent for 5 offshore funds registered with the SFB in Taiwan and has signed up more than 30 distributors, including some of Taiwan’s leading banks, insurance and securities companies. In less than two years, NB Taiwan SICE raised more than US$2 billion in assets from Taiwan investors and, in 2014, was awarded “Taiwan Best Newcomer” by Asia Asset Management for its good performance and achievements within the Taiwan funds management industry. Neuberger Berman now intends to establish a Securities Investment Trust Enterprise (“SITE”) in Taiwan (“NB Taiwan”). 1 As at 30 June 2016 Neuberger Berman Taiwan Limited Cathay Landmark Square, 20/F, No.68, Zhongxiao East Road, Xinyi District, Taipei 11065, Taiwan Tel. + 886 2 8726 8280 Role We are seeking a Middle Office Analyst primarily to provide middle office support for our SITE business in Taiwan, but also to provide support to our Fund Administration & Oversight function in relation to the oversight of our SITE funds. This position will be based in our Taiwan office and will report into our Operations Manager in Hong Kong, while also supporting the Fund Administration & Oversight Manager, also based in Hong Kong. The ideal candidate for the role will be able to work autonomously and within a smaller team environment, recognizing the need for flexibility and a team-oriented outlook. Responsibilities: Facilitate new business on-boarding with internal and external parties to ensure new portfolios are set up in a timely manner, including providing assistance with Chinese account opening documents within Neuberger Berman’s infrastructure. Act as primary middle office point of contact for NB Taiwan’s General Manager, Portfolio Managers, Sales & Trading, Legal & Compliance, Oversight, Risk, Finance and other internal teams on a daily basis. Liaise with clients, fund administrators, custodians, trust banks, brokers and other counterparties to ensure daily operation issues such as trade discrepancies and settlement issues are resolved promptly. Undertake a daily review of trades executed for client portfolios and funds, which may include a variety of products, including global and emerging market fixed income, equities, futures, listed options and OTC derivatives. Provide middle office support, including trade instructions, trade matching, corporate actions, cash & position reconciliation. The individual will be expected to support the entire trade lifecycle from front to back. Support periodic management reporting including fund board reporting (as required) and monthly attestation/statistical reporting for pending risk items such as fails, trade errors and aged breaks. Serve as the middle office escalation point within Taiwan and Asia Pacific time zone. Prepare settlement instructions to custodian as required under Taiwan regulation. Assist with the monitoring of the fund administration and operations of our SITE funds. Assist with the management of relationships with and the performance of service reviews of the service providers to our SITE funds, including: fund administrators, transfer agents and custodians. Support fund operation implementation projects with the SITE funds’ service providers. Characteristics The individual will ideally possess the following characteristics: Bachelor degree or above in Accounting, Economics, Finance or a related discipline. Three to five years of relevant experience required, ideally in the asset management industry. Strong knowledge of the operations function for a SITE and applicable laws, regulations and guidelines. Language fluency in both written and spoken English and Chinese (Mandarin). Strong organizational, communication, analytical, attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Knowledge and understanding of derivatives, equities, equity related securities and FX, ideally in global and emerging markets products. Demonstrable risk and controls awareness and ability to apply this to the operating environment. Preferable system knowledge - Bloomberg, Aladdin, Charles River, Omgeo products. Proven track record of implementing change and managing through difficult circumstances. Advanced computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office products, Excel VBA skills preferred. Self-starter, motivated and ability to implement tasks and projects with minimal supervision. Team player with good interpersonal skills who fosters team spirit in a global setting. Holder of any of the following licences: Securities Investment Trust & Consulting Licence / Senior Securities Licence / Trust Licence with Securities Investment Trust and Consulting Regulation Licence.
