Chromebooks, and a new reading intervention program for Grades 7-8.
The board also tabled consideration of the Math and English Language Arts curriculum. The board

Curriculum Committee to have a chance to review the curriculum before formal board approval.
Action items
Chromebooks bid
The Board approved a bid from Best Buy to purchase 360 Samsung Google Chromebook computers for a
total of $94,878. The computers will be used by students in the Bring Your Own Device program as
supplemental devices in the participating classrooms.
Teacher Evaluation Handbook
The Board approved a revised Teacher Evaluation Handbook, which outlines a revised teacher
evaluation instrument. A team of district teachers and administrators worked during the past year to
review and revise the instrument to comply with requirements of the Missouri Department of
Elementary and Secondary Education. The handbook includes the process and timeline, as well as forms

immediately precede the regular monthly meeting.
Change orders
The Board approved an additional $4,957.80 in change orders for the construction of secured entrances
at Peculiar Elementary, Raymore Elementary, Shull Elementary, and the south high school building. The
original bid from Imperial Construction was $14,000. The Board approved an additional contingency
amount of $12,420, for a total approved construction amount of $426,420. Change orders to date total
$17,377.80, which is $4,957.80 over the total approved construction costs.
Reading Intervention Program for Grades 7-8
The Board approved the purchase of Achieve 3000, a new reading intervention program for Grades 7-8,
starting this school year. The program is designed to support struggling readers. It will replace the Read
180 program at the middle school. Achieve 3000 delivers assignments at 12 different reading levels,
along with formative assessments. It continually assesses students’ reading levels and provides results
immediately so teachers can address weaknesses and gaps, and further build on strengths.
The cost of the program is $10,785 per year (three-year purchase price). The district will not purchase
Read 180 for the middle school. That cost was $10,100 per year. The net difference is $685 per year.

The Board approved the first readings on a number of district policies, which had earlier been
considered by the district’s Policy Review Committee. These policies will be presented for final approval
