Dear Friends,
The Lord’s Diner is excited to share our great news. With the approval of the Most Reverend Carl A. Kemme
Bishop of Wichita, the North East Ministerial League, District 1 City council member Lavonta Williams
and the City of Wichita Parks department we will be expanding our mobile feeding program to The Atwater
Community Center
Due to the generosity of The Dakhil Family Foundation, the truck is ordered and in the process of being
prepared for our use. We are hoping to begin serving in October 2016.
The Lord’s Diner at its inception was developed by the Wichita community to serve those that are hungry in our
community. We are honored to continue that rich tradition. This truck will be our third community outreach to
our 14 year old program.
With this additional truck more volunteers will be needed. Enclosed with this letter is an explanation of our
volunteer program and how you, your church or organization can become a part of this amazing ministry.
Volunteers have shared time and again the joy they experience serving their neighbors who are experiencing
hard times.
If you have any questions about this program please give us a call at 316-266-4966 and ask for Jan or Paul. If
you have questions after looking over the volunteer information call 316-266-4966 and ask for Sheryl.
HOW DO I VOLUNTEER FOR THE LORD’S DINER FOOD TRUCK #3?
WE WILL HOST A MEETING FOR INTERESTED VOLUNTEERS:
Saturday, Sept. 17th 3:00pm
The Atwater Community Center
2755 E 19th St. N.
(over for more information)
General information:
• All volunteers are required to attend an orientation session which will include a food handler’s class, child
safety information and general training.
• These classes are available separately, schedules will be made available.
• We serve from the food trucks Monday thru Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
• It takes around five to seven volunteers each night for an average total of 20 nights per month.
• We work on a one day a month rotation with each day referenced by how it falls within the month. First
week, second week, third week, fourth week and the 29th, 30th and 31st listed separately.
For example: If you were to sign up for the 3rd Saturday of the month, this day each month will not
change but the date will. If you sign up for the 29th, 30th or 31st of each month, the day of the week
will change but not the date.
Confusing? We will explain further at the meeting on Sept. 17 or you can call 266-4966 and ask for
Sheryl, Jan or Paul with any further questions.
If your church or organization would like to join us we ask for one contact for your group. This person will be
the coordinator. Their responsibility will be to work with your group to recruit the volunteers for your assigned
night and assure the needed volunteers will be available on your scheduled night.
You may also volunteer as an individual or with a group of family or friends.
With God’s blessings,
Jan Haberly Director
