PRESENTS
Jamzilla is an innovative new music game.
Unlike other music games (like “Dance Dance Revolution” or “Guitar Hero”) the gameplay of
Jamzilla is based entirely on the MIDI structure of the played files. In other words, expanding the
game with another 'level' can be simply done by adding a new .MID song into the game directory.
The possibility of using any SF2 sound font enables a good MIDI audio experience.
The game can be played online (up to 16 players) or on a single computer (up to 4 players). The
multiplayer functionality allows every player to take over one instrument in the played song (*see
screenshot 1 below). Since we are using MIDI all players hear exactly what everyone else is really
playing – INCLUDING mistakes or improvised solos. Pressing a wrong key is just like pressing a
wrong key on a piano. The note the player presses will be played and not a prerecorded error sound.
By offering simplified controls, the game can be played with only a few keys. Sounds easy? It all
depends on the chosen difficulty level. A typical screenshot of the gameplay is provided below.
When played online, music is provided by the server without requiring the players to have the MIDI
files on their computer.
Screenshots below are showing the project in development. Graphics will be improved upon finalization.
