Acts 2:42-47 Community Group Questions
Background and intro –
-Leaders please read the article Christian Responsibility and Mosaic Law by Geoff Ashley before discussing
question number 1.
1. Law vs. gospel – Peter came preaching the Gospel to people who knew the law, why was that so
important and what is the relationship between Law and Gospel? What does the relationship between
law and gospel look like in your life and how do you remind yourself of the gospel while living with law
also?
Acts discussion questions 1. Are you devoted to “the Apostles teachings?” What would devotion to the Bible look like in your life? Some of
us have regular reading and study habits when it comes to the word of God others of us have found it hard to be
consistent.
Suggested action plana. This week make a personal reading plan. For some that might be 30 minutes a day, for others that might
be reading 1 verse a day that you meditate on. Whatever you decide, make it realistic and start small,
you can always add more later.
2. The Apostles were in awe and wonder over what God was doing, are there things that you do to remember
what God is doing? Share with others what this process looks like.
3. Fellowship – “your life matters to me” – why is this an overwhelming idea? How can we simplify this and make
it manageable?
a. What are some practical ways that you can meet the needs of those around you, those in your church,
at your work, in your neighborhood? As a community group what can you do to show others that “your
life matters to us?”
b. Part of fellowship is saying I am willing to live with less so that you can live, what might this look like
individually? Think both in terms of time and resources?
4. Do you have an “open” home and an open life? Are you sharing what you have with others? Are you taking
what happens on Sundays and letting it overflow into your home? What does this look like?
5. What value do you see in The Table? How might you use it as a community group to bless one another and to
be a part of the whole church?
6. Lastly reflect on the idea that God is a God of mission. At the end of our passage we read , And the Lord added
to their number day by day those who were being saved. How ought we to immolate our missional God?
7. In what ways are we similar to the early church and in what ways are we different?
