PAYMENT OF PRIZE MONEY
Thursday and Friday Champions, Reserve Champions and Supreme Champions will receive their
money at Ring Office after Grand Parade on Friday.
Please ensure you have your Winner’s and Grand Parade card to collect Prize money. Any
champion, Res Champion or Supreme’s not appearing in the Grand Parade will forfeit their prize
money.
All prize money will be paid from the RING OFFICE daily.
** All Competitors please note: All horses in the Grand Parade are to enter and leave the ring
through the exercise yard opening close to loading ramp. **
REGULATIONS
TO AVOID MISUNDERSTANDING, COMPETITORS ARE REQUESTED TO READ THESE REGULATIONS
CAREFULLY.
1. The Show is conducted under the Rules and Regulations of the Gympie District Show Society
Inc. and the Queensland Chamber of Agricultural Societies.
2. Competitors are advised that riders in Hack, Galloway & Pony classes can only ride one horse
in each event.
3. A MAIDEN is a Horse that has not won a First Prize in a similar contest at an Agricultural Show.
If by the time of judging, Stewards are not notified by the Exhibitor of a mistake in this regard,
the competitor shall be disqualified from receiving prizemoney or dealt with in any way at the
Stewards discretion.
4. A NOVICE is a Horse or Pony that has never won a Championship in a similar contest at an
Agricultural Show.
5. LOCAL classes are for horses owned and ridden by residents of the Gympie Regional
Council area. All horses entered in Local classes must be the property of the exhibitor for
three calendar months prior to the month of the Gympie Show and must be stabled or
paddocked in the area for that time. All riders in Local classes must be resident within the
Gympie Regional Council area for three calendar months prior to the month of the Show.
6. Show Pony Hack and Show Pony Hunter Hack over 12.2hands ad not exceeding 14 hands
may be ridden by a juvenile or adult. All small Show Pony Hacks and Show Hunter Pony
Hacks 12.2 hands and under to be ridden by a juvenile rider under 17 years of age. Horses
may be entered in Hack classes or Hunter Hack classes but not in both.
7. SHOW HUNTERS CAN’T COMPETE IN ANY LOCAL, MAIDEN AND NOVICE HACK CLASSES AND ANY OPEN HACK
CLASSES, IN RINGS 1 AND 2. OPEN HACKS MAY NOT COMPETE IN SHOW HUNTER CLASSES.
8. Horses and ponies must be measured, by Official Measuring Steward where height is
stipulated. All horses must be measured and produce certificate signed by Official
Measuring Steward. MEASURING STEWARD will be available for measuring:
7am until 9am - THURSDAY 18TH and FRIDAY 19th May 2017. In marshalling yard.
9. MINIATURE HORSE AND SMALL HORSE SECTION RULES AS BY BREED STANDARD OF EXCELLENCE THE
MINIATURE HORSE ASSOCIATION OF AUSTRALIA INC.
10. Stallions not permitted in Hack classes.
11. ALL COLTS & STALLIONS - two years old and over must be led in a bit. The handler/rider of
a colt or stallion must have attained the age of 18 years on the day of the show. Miniature

Ponies and Horses are exempt from this rule.
12. All entries in BREED CLASSES must be registered or recorded in accordance with the rules
of the respective breed societies. No registration No entry.
13. When there is One competitor only in any classes the PRIZEMONEY will be the second
prizemoney. PRIZEMONEY for all events will be paid from the RING OFFICE. All
Championship money will be paid after appearance in the Grand Parade on FRIDAY 19th at
approximately 3pm.
14. ENTRY to all horse events will be by ticket only. You purchase the ticket to the value of the
entry fee from RING OFFICE and hand ticket to Steward in particular ring you are entering.
15. ENTRY FEES may be refunded only in special circumstances and you must see the deputy
ring stewards.
16. Competitors must wear CORRECT ATTIRE. Jeans and T-shirts are not considered suitable
attire. Approved riding helmets AS/NZS 3838 2006 onwards, ARB HS 2012 provided they
are SAI Global marked and riding boots are essential. In Novelty events suitable casual
gear plus approved riding helmet and riding boots essential.
17. No ring shall be required to wait for any competitor who may be competing in another
ring.
18. An exhibitor shall ensure that horse and competitor are entered and shown only in the
correct class.
19. If in the opinion of the Judge any horse or pony is entered in the wrong class, the Judge
shall have the power to classify it in the correct class.
20. The age of a horse shall be calculated from 1 August in the year in which it is foaled.
21. If a dispute arises as to the age of a competitor, the only proof of age accepted will be a
birth certificate.
22. No dispute to be considered whilst event is in progress. Protests to be lodged in writing.
AFTER event completed and must be handed to the RING OFFICE and accompanied by a
fee of $50 within half an hour of completion of event. Dispute Committee: M. Carlson, J.
Warren, J. Bryant, J. Mooney Snr [Any three to act] THE DECISION OF DISPUTE
COMMITTEE SHALL BE FINAL.
23. Stewards reserve the right to alter any event in the Schedule.
24. Stewards reserve the right to refuse any entry without reason.
25. A Judge or Steward may direct any person or horse from the competition for bad conduct
of one or both.
26. Judges may withhold Champion or First prize ribbons from any Exhibit they consider not of
sufficient quality.
27. The Committee reserves the right to swab any horse. Offenders will be banned.
28. An exhibit is ineligible to compete if the competitor/exhibitor is a member of the Judge's
family; if the horse has been owned or leased by the Judge or a member of his/her family
within the last three months; if the competitor has received tuition from the Judge within
the last three months; or if the competitor has been employed by the Judge within the last
three months.
29. A Judge shall not visit the horse stables, nor the owners, nor inspect or discuss any horse
entered in the show prior to or during the judging of the relevant section.

30. Attention to ALL DOG OWNERS. Dogs come on to the Showgrounds as the OWNERS
RESPONSIBILITY and must be securely chained inside vehicles or if under vehicles on a
short lead so that they cannot dive out and bite anyone. The Show Society has appointed 2
Safety Officers who will call on all Dog owners prior to the commencement of the Show
and will explain your responsibility to you.
31. No Exhibitor allowed to camp inside the racetrack fence.
32. Horse Health Declarations must be completed and handed in at the Ring Office upon
arrival at Showgrounds. Forms are available at the ring office or from the show society’s
website www.gympieshow.com.au
33. The Gympie District Show Society Inc. will not be responsible for any financial obligation in
respect of horses at the Gympie Showgrounds in the event of a lockdown of the
movement of horses from the Gympie Showgrounds due to any unforeseen circumstance.
34. All electrical equipment and leads must be tested and tagged to comply with safety regulations.

All horses entered in LOCAL classes must be the property of the exhibitor for three calendar
months prior to the month of the Gympie Show and must be stabled or paddocked in the area for
that time. All riders in LOCAL classes must be resident within the Gympie Regional Council area for
three calendar months prior to the month of the Show.

All Champions, Reserve Champions & Supremes must participate in the grand Parade in order to
collect their prize money, a grand parade card will be handed to you. Prize money will be available

No ring shall be required to wait for any competitor who may be competing in another ring.

STABLING ACCOMMODATION RULES
ALL ENQUIRIES REGARDING STABLING TO THE STABLE STEWARD ONLY:

The following is the information concerning the occupancy of stables. The Gympie Show
Society can provide for the benefit of exhibitors, three blocks of modern, well-constructed,
well lit, roomy stables. There are 88 of these stables and 40 yards. Owners can rest assured
that their valuable horses will be as safe as it is possible to make them. All care is taken, but
no responsibility accepted or implied.
All stabling has ample camping space near them and the area is well lit and Ramsey Road Stables
have toilets provided.
THE COST PER SHOW NIGHT IS:
$10 - PER STABLE

Show nights include Wednesday 17th, Thursday 18th, Friday 19th and Saturday 20th May 2017.
No Charge will be made for occupancy on any other night.

When making an application please state breed and height of horse and whether they are
hacks, ponies, stallions, showjumpers, etc.
▪
When booking please be advised Visiting horses are given preference for stables.
▪
Stables will not be allocated to Gympie Regional Council residents who are competing until
Tuesday 16th May 2017 and ONLY if available.
▪
Gympie Regional Council Residents cannot occupy the stables before Wednesday 17th May
2017.
▪
All Cancellations must be made by Saturday 13th May 2017. Must notify the stable steward
as soon as possible, to be resold. Refunds will be sent out from 1st June 2017.
▪
Stabling applications Open 1st April and Close by Monday 8th May 2017
▪
Stabling is at a premium, the Fitzhenry and Fisher lodges stables and yards are priced
individually.
▪
No application will be accepted unless accompanied by the appropriate fees, therefore no
allotment of stables until all fees are paid.
▪
No electric fences are allowed on the grounds during the period of the show and the
society’s workplace health and safety officer are authorised to cut and remove same without
notice.
▪
All electrical equipment and leads must be tested and tagged to comply with safety regulations.

GENE BARKER LODGE
48 STABLES
Mainly for hacks, leds, stallions but if unavailable, will be allotted to other block of stables.
Cost is $10 per stable per show night.
Note: No application will be accepted unless accompanied by the appropriate fees.
Note: Owners of Horses are reminded that all boxes must be cleaned by 9am and manure
placed at the back of stables at indicated sites.
Please remember these stables will be allocated on fairest way possible.
Local horses are last to be allotted stables and only if any are available in this lodge.
FITZHENRY FAMILY AND TED FISHER LODGE
20 STABLES AND 20 YARDS EACH LODGE
Mainly for showjumpers but if Gene Barker Lodge unavailable, hacks will be allotted to these
stables.
Cost is $10 per stable and $8 per yard per show night.
Please remember these stables will be allocated on fairest way possible.
Note: No application will be accepted unless accompanied by the appropriate fees.

RAMSEY ROAD ENTRANCE STABLES

Stalls in this block are available for $8 per stall per Show night.
These are situated on the right and left of the Ramsey Road gates.
Please remember these stables will be allocated on fairest way possible.
Note: Please keep the area clean of all rubbish and place any manure at either end of stable
block in a pile.
TEMPORARY/STEEL YARDS
$8 per yard per show night
Temporary Yards will be situated near Ramsey Road on a flat surface and the permanent 8
Steel Yards are situated behind Gene Barker stables near round yard.
