How Many
Candles?
Twinkle
Twinkle
Chanukah
Lights
by Jackie
Cytrynbaum
How many
candles (3x)
do we light?
On our
Chanukiah (2x)
on the first
Chanukah
night?
One! One!
One-one-one!
One candle
burning (2x)
on the first
Chanukah night.
To the tune of “Twinkle
Twinkle, Little Star”
Twinkle, twinkle,
Chanukah lights,
Shining brightly
for EIGHT NIGHTS!
The shamash
stands up
straight and tall,
to light the others
one and all.
Twinkle, twinkle,
Chanukah lights,
Shining brightly
for eight nights!

In The Window
by Judith Kaplan Eisenstein
In the window where
you can see the glow
from my menorah
on newly fallen snow,
I will set you one little
candle(s) on this the
first night of Chanukah!
On the 1st night of Chanukah, take the shamas and light 1 candle!
Then we’ll give thanks to God for bringing us to this day! (chorus)
2nd night… Then we’ll give praise to God for the miracle of this holiday! (chorus)
3rd night… Then spin the dreidel round: Nes, Gadol, Haya-a, Sham! (chorus)
4th night… Tell the story of the Maccabees, how Judah fought against tyranny! (chorus)
5th night… Celebrate with family this glorious piece of our history! (chorus)
6th night… Then watch the fire glow like the oil lamp so long ago! (chorus)
7th night… Think of ways that you could be a modern-day Maccabee! (chorus)
8th night… Open presents and make a plan to give tzedakah and lend a hand! (chorus)
