Fashion for Free Education
Bring Fashion Week to your city or town! The Aqulifer Club at Charlotte Country Day School did and now
two Tanzania orphans have a home and a school as a result! This is a fun and easy way to get your
friends and classmates involved in an extracurricular activity that brings awareness to and provides
resources for many deserving orphans in sub-Saharan Africa. As a result of the spring 2006 and 2007
fashion shows put on by the service club, they raised $4000 that provides sponsorship for two children
to go to boarding school (giving them a home and education at the same time), buying a washing
machine for the Nkoaranga orphanage and buying school supplies for the Fikiria Kwanza Academy in
Tanzania.
What they did:

2Cents Program
Spare change that creates a real change!
Set a timeframe ( a month, semester or year) and have your class, club or friends bring in all the spare
change they can find to buy books for children in Tanzania. Each book cost roughly $1 USD, so for 100
pennies, 25 nickels, 10 dimes, or 4 quarters you can be buy a book for an orphaned child in sub-Sahran
Africa!
We can even arrange a pen-pal partnership so you can learn more about the children and their lives in
Tanzania and they too can learn about what your life is like here in America.
Mrs. Brady’s 2nd Grade Class in Charlotte collected change for a month and a half and raised $206.01
and collected over 200 additional books that they had grown out of. Well done!

Set a timeframe ( a month, semester or year) and have your school, class, club or friends bring in all the
school supplies they can think of for children in Africa living without the luxury of school supplies. We
will then pack them all up on a container and ship them over to Tanzania.
