Bogaziçi University Summer Term is an intensive seven-week programme that offers more than 300 courses in a wide range of areas, and provides a unique experience
in one of most ancient capitals in history – Istanbul. Istanbul is the cultural, economic and historical heart of Turkey, and the capital city of three world empires. Explore
Istanbul’s Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman heritage while studying with international instructors and students from about 100 universities in 20 countries.

Students can choose one of the following courses:
 International Migration and the Crisis - This course aims to offer participants an understanding of the complex and varied nature of global migration in general
and forced migration in specific and their centrality to global, regional and national processes of political, social and economic change and of the needs of
displaced people themselves

Urban Political Ecology on the Road - The class will be focusing on how the contemporary city depends upon its natural surrounding not only for agricultural
output and land conversion, but also how natural resources shape the city’s landscape, establish and reinforce socio-spatial inequalities as well as how urban
commons have recently become a battleground over which dominant urban strategies are being contested

Philanthropy and Civil Society - The goal of this course is to introduce students to the role philanthropy and civil society organisations play in community life,
specifically in Turkey and the United States. This course introduces students to individual and institutional philanthropy and the role and management of nonprofit/civil society organisations in community life

Students selected for the programme are eligible to apply for:
 NASA Enhancement Bursary (Singaporean Citizens only) – Application is via the NUS
Integrated Student Information System (External Study). Students will receive a
notification via their NUS email to proceed with their funding application.

SECTION E: MODULE MAPPING
Academic credit MAY be available. Students interested in obtaining credit must work with their
faculty for credit transfer. IRO is unable to apply for credit transfer on the students’ behalf.

Students can map a total of 12 MCs from a maximum of 2 overseas summer/winter programmes
without having to pay tuition at NUS. Any additional MCs mapped will be subjected to NUS Special

Travel Insurance
Please note that student must leave Singapore on or after the policy commencement date for
coverage to be effective.
Students are responsible for ensuring that they have sufficient travel insurance coverage.
Exclusions to the NUS blanket travel insurance may apply. Students may consider purchasing
