1) Read Matthew 6:1-5. Compare the words of the Lord
to the “Underprivileged Children’s Drive” and Opie’s
private charity. Which one is best configured to the
words of Jesus? Explain.
2) Read Matthew 7:1-2. Compare the instruction of the Lord to Andy’s attitude towards his son
when he first learned of Opie’s three cent donation. In your opinion, does Aunt Bee’s
admonition to Andy fit the spirit of the Gospel or not?
3) In this episode, what did Andy first consider most important? What did Opie consider
important?
4) What can we learn from the “classic dialog”:
Andy: “Opie, you never told me what the money was for!”
Opie: “You never asked.”
5) Review these verses from Proverbs 11. Stop and review in your mind the episode you have just
watched. Consider the two plot lines: Annabelle Silby and her “dead” husband and Andy’s
argument with Opie over the donation for the underprivileged children. In one complete
sentence per verse, state which situation, character, or dialog each verse could reference. Be
sure to offer an explanation. Write your sentence beneath each verse.

6) Why did Tom Silby decide to keep his grave at the cemetery? How does this
exemplify the message of Easter in our own life of grace and new life in
Christ?
