Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, Hon'ble Minister for Urban
Development, Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation
and Information & Broadcasting, inaugurates the
face lifted/revamped Rajghat in New Delhi on
January 30, 2017 on the occasion of 69th
Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Shri Rajiv Gauba,
Secretary (UD), Shri Durga Shanker Mishra, Addl.
Secretary (UD) and other Senior Officers of CPWD
were present on the occasion.
The face lifted Mahatma Gandhi’s Memorial includes brief
profile of Father of the Nation inscribed on the granite gates,
famous quotes of Mahatma Gandhi on the granite stone
pedestals besides installation of CCTV Cameras, 52 KWA
Solar Power Plant and installation of External LED Lighting.
These works have been executed by NDZ-II, CPWD, New
Delhi.

MESSAGE FROM DIRECTOR GENERAL
Dear colleagues,
To accomplish the cherished goals that we have set for ourselves, we need to
rejuvenate our energies and ponder upon our shortcomings and find ways & means
to overcome them. We must intensify the journey of further growth and diversification
which is imperative for our sustenance and survival.
I have been told that till November 2016, we have achieved a actual workload of Rs.
7200 crores and by the end of FY 2016-17, we shall be able to achieve a workload of
more than 13000 crores, which would be approx. 20% more than the workload
achieved during the last fiscal. Our immediate focus should be to complete the
ongoing projects with quality, economy & in time and to commence the new works in
a time bound manner for which sanctions have been received by us.
In the month of January 2017, the three days Senior Officers Meet to review the
performance of the Regions and to discuss various issues related to the growth of the
Department was held in New Delhi. I would request all SDGs/ADGs/CEs/CPMs to act
upon the actionable issues decided in the Meet.
In the month of January 2017, preparations for Republic Day Celebrations were made
by us in most successful manner. Tableaux of CPWD made with colorful and fragrant
flowers, depicting the concept of ‘Green India- Clean India’ participated in the
Rajpath on Republic Day. The Tableaux was conferred the Special Prize.
I congratulate the team of CPWD Officers involved in execution of Republic Day
Celebrations works for their hard work, sincerity, untiring dedication and
commendable performance.
Friends, our performance is continuously evaluated by everyone, to whom we provide
our services. We need to live up to the increasing expectations of our clients and
stakeholders. We are supposed to be more dexterous to grab new opportunities and
focus on time bound delivery with quality. I am sure that you all will continue to
portray your commitment and determination to face the challenges of present and
future.

Shri Rajnath Singh, Hon’ble Union Home Minister laid foundation stone for the work of
construction of Head Quarter of 10th Bn NDRF at Kondapavuluru, Andhra Pradesh, on
January 9, 2017 in the august presence of Hon’ble UDM Shri Venkaiah Naidu and Hon’ble
Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu. The project costing around
Rs.76 crores shall be executed by Southern Zone-VI, CPWD, Vijayawada.
Smt. Kiran Maheshwari, Hon'ble Technical Education Minister, Govt. of Rajasthan
inaugurated Petroleum Engineering Department Building at Rajasthan Technical
University, Kota, Rajasthan on January 9, 2017 in the presence of Institute Authorities and CPWD Officers. The Building has been constructed by the Northern Zone-III,
CPWD Rajasthan.

Hon’ble Justice Shri Arjan Kumar Sikri, Supreme Court of India alongwith Hon’ble Justice
Smt. Indra Banerjee, High Court of Delhi inaugurated the Conference Room, Lift in Mediation Centre and DLSA Building at Patiala House Court Complex, New Delhi on January 11,
2017 in presence of Senior officers of High Court and CPWD. These works has been executed by NDZ-II, CPWD, New Delhi.
Ms. Meenakshi Lekhi, Hon’ble Member of Parliament inaugurated Open Gym in Park at
Aram Bagh Colony on January 29, 2017 in presence residents and CPWD officers. The

The Chief Justice of India Hon'ble Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar, Hon'ble Justice Dipak Misra,
Hon'ble Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Hon'ble Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde, Supreme Court of
India visited the site for construction of Additional Office Complex for Supreme Court of India
adjoining Pragati Maidan, New Delhi on February 1st, 2017. CPWD officers were present
during the visit.
Rao Inderjit Singh Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Planning & Minister of State for UD &
HUPA visited the site of School of Planning & Architecture, Vijayawada on January 22, 2017
and reviewed the progress of works. CE, SZ-VI, CPWD, Vijayawada and other CPWD officers
were present during the visit.

Shri Abhai Sinha, Director General, CPWD inspected the ongoing works of PMSSY, Meerut
on January 21, 2017. During inspection Shri Ramesh Chandra, CE, NZ-II, Lucknow, CPWD
and other Officers of CPWD were present.
Shri Abhai Sinha, Director General, CPWD participated in a seminar organized by the IIT
Gandhinagar on 2.2.2017 to share experiences of CPWD towards the journey of campus
development so far and to chart the way ahead for the future development of campus.

Dr. S. C. Jamir, Hon’ble Governor of Odisha laid foundation stone for construction of
Academic, Hostel & Administrative Building for Ramadevi University, Bhubaneswar on
January 10, 2017. These buildings shall be constructed by the Eastern Zone-V,
CPWD, Bhubaneshwar.

Shri K. Durga Prasad, DG, CRPF laid foundation stone for the work of construction of
221 nos. Residential Quarters for 100 RAF Ahmedabad on January 15, 2017 in the
presence of CRPF and CPWD Officers. Residential Quarters shall be constructed by the
Western Zone-IV, CPWD Gandhi Nagar.

Centre Pinjore, Haryana, on January 28, 2017 in presence of CRPF and CPWD Officers.

participated in the workshop on reducing Carbon Footprint and
enhancing Climate Resilience of National Highways in India held
by MoRTH along with TERI at India Habitat Center, New Delhi
on 17th January, 2017. CPWD officers gave their suggestions on
various aspects in the Workshop. The aim of the workshop was
to deliberate upon the key findings and interventions suggested
in the interim report of the study – Reducing Carbon Footprint
and Enhancing Climate Resilience of National Highways in
India.
