This is for seniors ONLY. The Senior Class Council is looking for hard working,
responsible members to plan senior class activities for this school year. These
activities include planning a community service project, the senior class trip or
breakfast, and the senior class gift to DCTS, as well as designing senior class apparel
and co-planning Prom. We will also participate in monthly Wolverine Council
meetings. Please note: The Senior Class Council will meet during every club period
beginning on the first date. Members who would like to sign up for more than one club
must make arrangements with each club advisor prior to the first club date. Students

The Freshman Class Council will meet to organize freshman fundraising activities.
You will be helping to organize fundraisers to benefit the, Prom, and your senior class
activities. You will be responsible for assisting in dress down days and planning for
field day. Freshman Council members will meet one time each month, so members of
this council will need to sign up for an additional club. It is your responsibility to make
your second club advisor aware of this obligation.

DCTS Wolverine
Council

Wolverine Council is DCTS’s student council. We run activities and charitable events
for the whole school. Some of the activities that we host include the Holiday Door
Decorating Contest, the Holiday Tree, Ice Cream Socials, and Field Day. We get
involved in Dress Down Days and other events each year to raise money for different
charities including the Bethesda Mission every November. We are looking for
representatives from each shop to help spread the word of what’s going on in our

DECA

DECA is a career and technical student organization for students pursuing careers in
marketing, management, distribution and entrepreneurship. Our goals are to prepare
our students to be: academically prepared, community oriented, professionally
responsible, and experienced leaders. Community service is a major goal of DECA.
Open to Marketing students only. DECA members compete at the local, state, and
national levels.

The FFA is open to Horticulture and Veterinarian Assisting students only. This club will
have regular meetings focusing on leadership, organization and is goal-oriented.
Participation in the PA State Farm Show is the focus of the year, as well as other
flower shows/competitions if offered. The meetings will occur once a month (schedule
to follow). Officers may be required to meet at more than once. All FFA members
(except officers) should sign up for another club and meet when there is no FFA
chapter meetings.
The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organizations established to
recognize outstanding high school level students. More than just an honor roll, NHS
serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of
Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. These characteristics have been
associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921. This club
is for NHS members only. Meets 1st club day of the month only.

Archery Club will be shooting NASP (National Archery in Schools Program) equipment
and competing in club and in outside of school meets. Participation in matches

Anime Club
An anime club is an organization that meets to discuss, show, and promote anime in a
local community setting and can also focus on broadening Japanese cultural film and
literature.

Basketball Club
This club is designed for the energetic person. It provides a student with the
opportunity to get a good workout, while also developing sportsmanship and
teamwork. Students will have the opportunity to learn basic basketball skills and
correct rules of the game. The requirements are for students to act properly (no unsportsman-like conduct or disrespect) and dress accordingly (t-shirt with sleeves, gym
shorts, and sneakers). We will establish 4 teams of 9 players who will receive equal
playing time within the tournament style set-up. We encourage that students
intending to play have played some form of competitive basketball in the past.

GYM
Students can come and play board games against the club advisors and each other.
Board games are provided or student may bring games approved by advisors. We
can have tournaments as well.
The students will engage in a book club. The students will be able to pick a book of
their choice and read during the period. Once the book is complete, they will write a
review to be posted in the library or classroom. This will also give the students a
chance to discuss their books and make recommendations amongst other staff and
students.

On club days, students will be transported to ABC North Lanes. One of two
transportation options could be arranged; one, we could use school van (if one can be
provided), or two, licensed juniors and seniors could transport students to the bowling
alley after having parents sign permission slips allowing their son/daughter’s vehicle to
be used for transportation. The cost was $5.00 per week and students required to pay
the amount in full ($90) at the beginning of the club season.

ABC North
Students of all ability levels will learn to play chess and/or improve their skills at the
game. We will have a tournament of interested students during 4th Quarter and will
name a student chess champion before the end of the year.
The Civil War History Club will view and discuss the Ken Burns documentary, “The
Civil War.” We will also plan and take two Saturday field trips: A Fall trip to the
Antietam Battlefield and a Spring trip to the Gettysburg Battlefield (With Administrative
approval).

The Creative Arts
Program (CEAD) at
DCTS
CEAD (Creative Expressions at DCTS) is now part of the Creative Arts Club! Come
join us as we join those in our theater program to bring the arts to Dauphin County
Technical School! We will still be having our Open-Mic Nights, but we’ll also be
helping with all of the theater opportunities as well. So join us in the Creative Arts Club
and help the arts come alive at DCTS!

Coloring and Relaxing
Feeling stressed out at the end of the day? Do you like to color with colored pencils,
crayons or markers? Join us for a relaxing way to end your week. You can choose
from intricate or simple design patterns and color away some of the stress of your
week before heading home.
Coloring is a great way to de-stress after the long week! Students will de-stress by
spending time creating art work with coloring pages. Students will be provided
markers, crayons, colored pencils, and coloring pages that aren’t for the weakminded!
Many comic books have been made into movies. X-men, Fantastic Four, The
Avengers, Batman, Daredevil, etc. Films will be watched and discussed during this
club. No sleeping allowed!
DCTS radio will provide student driven and student created content through an
automated, streamed, Internet radio station. Club members working individually or in
small teams will contribute to a database of tracks, select a playlists, record stop sets,
and produce original content to create a programming segment. The club members
together will determine the station’s programming schedule. Its extended mission will
be to pursue opportunities to conduct interviews of members of the DCTS community,
advertise DCTS events and support or enhance other student activities.
Open to Journalism students only. Club time will be used for student reporters to be
on assignment, gathering information regarding current happenings at DCTS. Student
staff members will also use this time to work on publication of the school newspaper
and other aspects of high school journalism.

Fitness club is a club designed for the individual who already exercises and likes to
work out or the individual who would like to begin and exercise program or for
someone who would just like to stay in shape. If you choose this club you will be
expected to dress for a work out.

these rules being enforced. The club will meet in HVAC and then go outside (weather
permitting) to play flag game that will be officiated by students.

We would like to do a board/card game and puzzles club. Students will be able to play
games such as SET, Skip Bo, Solitaire, Scrabble, or do word searches or Sudoku.
Students bring electric/acoustic guitars and amplifiers and express their inner “rock
star.” Equipment can be brought to room 2105 on mornings of club days.

This club offers fun competition sing hundreds of different hangman puzzles in various
categories. Prizes will be awarded to the top two competitors at the end of the school
year. 1st Place (Champion): $100 gift card
2nd Place (Runner-up) $50 gift card
In the history of the automobile club students will learn about different manufactures
that have contributed to the advancement of the automobile. We will learn about
different manufactures such as Hudson, Packard, Kaiser, and others that students
don’t even know existed. They will lean what the manufactures did to change the way
automobiles are design, perform, handle, and look. This is for a student that is
interested in vehicles and are excited about learning the history behind the vehicles
we drive today.
By joining Lab Rats, you can participate in science far and Science Olympiad. DCTS
competes in CASEF (Capital Area Science and Engineering Fair) in March and PJAS
(Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science) in February. You are able to design and
conduct your own research and then present it at the fairs. Science Olympiad is a
team of 15 students that participate in a variety of STEM events at Millersville
University in March. We can also participate in other STEM (science, technology,
engineering and mathematics) activities. We may participate in the Philadelphia Zoo’s
UNLESS challenge.

Latrunculi was a two-player strategy board game played throughout the Roman
Empire. It is said to resemble chess or draughts, but is generally accepted to be a
game of military tactics. The club will spend time making and learning how to play the
game and then tournaments throughout the year.

Let’s Talk Sports Club
Analyze, Debate, and watch videos of top in season sports and talk about the latest
controversies and games being played on the field and courts of college and pro
sporting events. We will also listen to commentary from the nations, top sports
journalists and break down their comments and provide our own opinions about
events making the news in the world of sports!

Mancala is a simple stone passing board game played throughout the world. Dominos
is a tile matching game played throughout the world.

Martial Arts Movie Club
Students will view classic as well as recent martial arts movies to better understand
how this philosophy extends throughout many cultures and around the world.
Additionally, students will gain exposure to the peaceful, reflective elements of various
martial arts philosophies.
This club is for students interested in participating in Math and Quiz Bowl
Competitions. Students will use productive struggle to push through and overcome
challenging problems. Some problems may not be solvable, but the students who join
this club must be willing to try anyway! Some (not all) students in this club will go on
field trips to compete at various locations including several different colleges
throughout the year.
The students will learn about what meditation is, why it is important and how to
practice with useful tips.
Non-Precision Machining Technology students will have the opportunity to learn and
practice the art of shielded metal (ARC Welding) also known as “stick” welding.
Students will be able to practice welding along with machining home projects.
Club members will discuss current events that are pertinent to the military services.
We will watch the most current edition of each branch of services’ news broadcast
such as “Air Force.” Students already in the military will share experiences from basic
training, technical school, AIT, etc. We will listen to guest speakers brought in to share
their experiences and relate opportunities in the military. Examples of guest speakers
would be Liaison Officers from the various service academies, recruiters from local
recruiting stations, Air National Guard Pilots, current National Guard members,
Iraq/Afghan veterans and military retirees.
Club will focus on Pennsylvania history. Students will research and study significant
historical facts and take turns presenting to the club members each week.
The club will introduce various games involving playing cards and allow students to
compete against others to test their luck! Games will include but are not limited to:

This club is for students that are interested in and/ or drive, float, or fly radio controlled
models. Ownership of a model is not required, but the club will not have equipment
available for loan. Please make careful consideration when joining. Space is limited
and if you are not actively interested in this club, please do not take a space from
someone who is.
Students will be taught how to read electrical schematics for riding mowers. Then will
apply that knowledge to troubleshooting electrical problems on riding mowers.

The robotics club will prepare students to become a part of the robotics team. They
will learn how to put mechanical parts together, program the robot and market the club
and bot. We would like to use 1410 as the “home base” for the club but move the
students who would like to program and do marketing to 1207 and a select few to
work on the FTC robot in 2108. Mrs. Stoner would take control of the marketing while
Mr. Jacobs is taking care of the mechanical and Mr. Dawson would migrate students
to the FTC robot and the programming depending on what part of the season we are
in. All students would report to 1410 each club period and would be split up to work in
their respective areas for that day.
Students will get exercise and improve cardiovascular ability by running during club
period. Running outside, weather permitting with alternate location during inclement
weather (TBA). Students will meet in room 2216 the 1st club day.

club. We are bringing these two amazing artistic clubs together to bring you the
Creative Arts Program. If this sounds interesting to you or sounds like something you
would like to experience, joins this club now. We will be helping with the Theatre
Program’s Fall Play and Spring Musical, CEAD open mic nights, and will be doing
some creative programs new for this school year. Don’t miss out and join us for a fun
filled year! **Please note: we will be doing a lot of work in this club. This is not going
to be a time for students to use as a study hall or sit and talk with friends. **
