TECU® Patina has a crystalline surface that is a close as possible to that of naturally-aged copper. In a patented process, the copper sheets develop, in just a few weeks, the living patina surface which takes many years on the roof, and many decades on a façade. The Patina surface develops on top of an oxidised layer, which protects the base copper sheet below. Over time, the Patina surface continues to develop, providing lasting colour. TECU® Patina is not a „flat‟, „static‟ or painted surface: A natural surface like copper, TECU® Patina always adapts to its surroundings, site location, exposure, etc. Viewed close-up, you can see variations in the surface when new. Colours can vary: TECU® Patina in the Alps will be different to TECU® Patina in the city, or TECU® Patina by the coast. “Standard” TECU® Patina varies from TECU® Patina “hand-processed” A new sample of TECU® Patina The same, after 2 weeks of natural weathering TECU® Consulting KME UK, Severn House, Prescott Drive, Worcester WR4 9NE Tel: 01905 751 816 www.kmetecuuk.com TECU® Patina – initial variations & natural weathering 2) Initial appearance of TECU® Patina “Standard” TECU® Patina vs TECU® Patina hand-processed: this is a feature of production techniques used. “Standard” TECU® Patina TECU® Patina “hand-processed” * Note speckled appearance when viewed close-up More even appearance * TECU® Patina hand-processed is an option designed for manual post-patination of individual pre-fabricated (3D) items, rather than sheet materials. Colour variations are an ordinary and desired part of the patination process, as they emphasise the natural qualities of the product and the individual character of each sheet. Differences between sheets, varying from tones of yellow-green to blue-green, are gradually evened out over time as a result of exposure to weathering. They are not an indication of varying quality, but a mark of the product‟s unique natural qualities. 08/01/2002 IPF in Dresden, Germany 24/01/2002 TECU® Consulting KME UK, Severn House, Prescott Drive, Worcester WR4 9NE Tel: 01905 751 816 www.kmetecuuk.com TECU® Patina – initial variations & natural weathering 3) Project images, showing acclimatisation of TECU® Patina Offices, Hohemarktstrasse, Oberursel, Germany 11/03/2003 23/06/2003 TECU® Consulting KME UK, Severn House, Prescott Drive, Worcester WR4 9NE Tel: 01905 751 816 www.kmetecuuk.com TECU® Patina – initial variations & natural weathering 3) Project images, showing acclimatisation of TECU® Patina Sparkasse Bank, Minden-Lübbecke, Germany 07/04/2006 05/06/2006 TECU® Consulting KME UK, Severn House, Prescott Drive, Worcester WR4 9NE Tel: 01905 751 816 www.kmetecuuk.com TECU® Patina – initial variations & natural weathering 3) Project images, showing acclimatisation of TECU® Patina Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle 15/05/2008 Feb 2009 TECU® Consulting KME UK, Severn House, Prescott Drive, Worcester WR4 9NE Tel: 01905 751 816 www.kmetecuuk.com TECU® Patina – initial variations & natural weathering 4) Close-up materials photos, TECU® Patina on KME’s natural-weathering stands TECU® Patina on KME‟s natural-weathering stands, Osnabrück, Germany 11/10/2006 07/11/2007 TECU® Consulting KME UK, Severn House, Prescott Drive, Worcester WR4 9NE Tel: 01905 751 816 www.kmetecuuk.com TECU® Patina – initial variations & natural weathering 4) Close-up materials photos, TECU® Patina on KME’s natural-weathering stands TECU® Patina on KME‟s natural-weathering stands, Osnabrück, Germany 11/10/2006 07/11/2007 TECU® Consulting KME UK, Severn House, Prescott Drive, Worcester WR4 9NE Tel: 01905 751 816 www.kmetecuuk.com
